Matt began pursuing a career as an information technology professional in January 2015 after graduating with a specialized Master's degree in Information Systems and Operations Management and an Auditing minor from the University of Florida's Hough Graduate School of Business. As an undergraduate at UF, Matt received Bachelor's degrees in both Information Systems and Finance, which, along with various internship positions in the IT industry, steered his career path towards a role in technology that incorporates aspects of accounting and finance. Matt has developed experience in reviewing several information systems of various size and complexity, including ERPs such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Dynamics (Axapta and Dynamics), and Oracle. Additionally, Matt has conducted reviews on Microsoft Windows, Linux, UNIX,and IBM AS400 operating systems, as well as several applications used for the purpose of HR, Accounting, and Resource Management.Technology Risk Consultant @ As a first-year consultant in the Technology Risk unit at Crowe Horwath, Matt provides IT Audit and Consulting services to a variety of clients in the Southeast, specializing in the governmental, banking, and manufacturing industries. Matt works with an engagement team to conduct both internal and external reviews in several areas, including Information Systems General Controls (ISGC), Financial Audit Support and SSAE16/SOC reporting. Matt is responsible for performing multiple phases within the scope of each engagement, including planning, on-site fieldwork, testing, and leading client meetings. Matt regularly meets with IT and Finance personnel to discuss key controls for IT security and performs substantive testing procedures to validate the operating effectiveness of each control. Based on these findings, Matt works closely with senior management to communicate recommendations for improving the organizations' IT control environment and remaining compliant with industry standards. During client engagements, Matt is primarily responsible for reviewing IT controls in the areas of: Program Development and Change Management, Logical Access (on the application, operating system, and database level), Computer Operations (backups, disaster recovery, transaction processing, physical security), Overall IT Entity Level Controls, Payment Processing, Electronic Banking, and Vendor Management.
