About Louis Leondiou

📖 Summary

I have always loved working with computers, but it was after university when I joined the FDM Group where I truly found my passion. Since those days far behind I have blossomed into a competent Java programmer with a thirst to learn more. I subscribe to online learning facilities and read books on safaribooksonline.com in order to continue to learn and attempt to keep up with the fast paced industry. I also attend meet ups (Meetup.com) such as Agile North East for discussing and learning more about the ‘Agile’ methodology and Google I/O Extended Newcastle to watch the Google I/O extended talk with like-minded people. I am currently developing a web application which will eventually serve as an interactive curriculum vitae. The technology stack I am using for it is comprised of Java, Spring MVC and Spring Security, Apache Velocity as the view resolver, JQuery, GSAP for javascript based animations and Gumby to bootstrap my HTML while also providing advanced javascript functionality. As the project becomes more mature, I will re-write the same application but using other technologies such as AngularJS, Polymer, Grails and Rails. You can confidently trust in my ability and my working ethic to do the job you need me to do, and if I cannot do it immediately, I will learn and adapt quickly so that I can.Java Developer @ From September 2014 to Present (1 year 4 months) Software Developer @ • Zuora • Amazon S3 • Java • Glassfish • Spring MVC • Spring Security • Hibernate • Spring Web Flow • JPA • JSP • JSTL • Apache Tiles • jQuery • MySql • REST • TFS • Git • TDD • Maven • Agile / Scrum • Commerce I work in an Agile Scrum environment with Sprints of 2 weeks, developing in a TDD fashion. As an all-round developer, I pick up unassigned developer user stories from the sprints backlog and complete them in a timely fashion. The user stories are varied from analysis through to design and development. A usual day requires me to work with Spring MVC, Hibernate, MySql, Glassfish and Jenkins in order to make improvements and functional changes to e-commerce solutions while keeping the rest of the team up to date with the latest working code. The other technologies are not used as much, but they are certainly used on a ‘sprintly’ basis. The code design follows an MVC design pattern which is combined with a Service Layer and DAO design pattern, helping to reduce code duplication and make it easier to maintain. As it is in most places, the code isn’t perfect and refactoring code happens when there is time to do so. Weekly – daily tasks consist of speaking with the Business Analysts and Testers to make sure that the requirements I am working to are accurate and to make sure that I haven’t missed anything out of my solution. From November 2013 to August 2014 (10 months) Newcastle upon Tyne, United KingdomTrainee @ Learning Unix, SQL, Java and Java EE technologies as quickly as possible. From March 2011 to August 2014 (3 years 6 months) Software Developer @ • Dojo Toolkit (Javascript) • HTML • CSS • JAVA • WebLogic • AJAX • SOAP • REST • Thucydides • Maven • Jenkins • Agile / Scrum • Git • Jira Another Agile Scrum working environment where I was brought into the team to alleviate pressure that the development team were under due to a tight schedule. To start with, the role required me to get familiar with front end development technologies, of which I had no previous professional exposure to. It was only due to my own studying that I was able to integrate myself with the technologies that were used. Within a short two week period, I was developing web pages using the Dojo Toolkit, HTML and CSS. The Dojo Toolkit allows you to develop interactive webpages in an Object Orientated way. After a month or so, I found myself using these new technologies with a good amount of confidence and to a standard comparable to the developers who had been using them longer than I. From March 2013 to October 2013 (8 months) Cambridge, United KingdomQA Engineer @ • QA Automation • Selenium • Jenkins • Java • Groovy • Maven • Agile / Scrum My first role into IT saw me being a QA Automation engineer. Although this wasn’t the direction in the industry I wanted to take, everyone has to start from somewhere and I took this opportunity to greatly develop my skills by working for a very successful company. It was an Agile Scrum environment also working within a 2 week sprint. My role was to work in a team to set up and maintain a continuous development pipeline using Jenkins, Perforce and Maven, for all the development teams to use. Daily tasks here consisted of using and adding to an internally built testing framework, developed with Java and Groovy. The framework used Selenium and excel sheets which were used to call methods which imitated user interactions with the Betfair site. 7 months at Betfair and I was transferred to a different team. Here I was tasked in developing a new Selenium testing framework, built using Groovy and using the Page Object design pattern. The purpose of the new testing framework was so that teams in England, Romania and Portugal were designing tests to the same standard. Once the testing framework became mature, I taught the teams in Romania and Portugal how to use and maintain it. After doing so my focus changed to updating old tests, creating new ones and maintaining them with the aspiration of achieving a completely autonomous software delivery pipeline. From November 2011 to March 2013 (1 year 5 months) Bachelor of Science (BSc), Mathematics with Physics and Computing, 2:1 @ University of Hertfordshire From 2006 to 2010 St Gregory's RC Science College Louis Leondiou is skilled in: SQL, PL/SQL, Unix Shell Scripting, Spring, Unix, Java, Jenkins, Groovy, HTML, Maven2, Selenium, Java Enterprise Edition, JUnit, Scrum, Maven, Agile Methodologies, Test Driven Development, Spring Framework
