From October 2014 to Present (1 year 3 months) Web Developer @ Managing and building the role out of IPC's flagship WordPress platform. Working on a large scale WordPress multisite that includes some of the UK's largest magazine brands. Build and expanding upon the firm foundation of WordPress to make scalable and highly customisable sites. The team works with a dev ops mentality, managing servers, improving build processes and developing sites in vagrant. From November 2013 to October 2014 (1 year) Senior web development executive @ Starting in 2009 as a frontend developer (HTML/CSS/jQuery), I soon graduated to an integral member of the development team using eclipse to create bespoke java CMS, using Apache Tomcat and XSL. Building on this existing system, I implemented the jQueryUI library and a series of custom plugins to build highly usable and feature rich web applications. After a year, I spearheaded the companies move away from java systems to the open source platform Wordpress. Gaining much success for clients and improving the speed of development, building custom themes and plugins, creating beautiful, highly manageable and search engine optimised sites. I also worked as part of a small production team, managing other team members, training new staff and delegating tasks. As well as building websites, I also maintained existing sites in PHP and Java, updating content, fixing bugs/security and optimising code for better search engine indexing. My duties also included dealing with clients/third parties over the phone and email, doing remote CMS training, support and collaborations. From November 2009 to October 2013 (4 years) Regulatory Database Assistant @ Along with many admin duties, I was a beta tester for a new electronic filing and publishing system based on Documentum. In the final days of employment I wrote a detailed technical report of the system, errors and suggested improvements which have since been incorporated into the system.
