Since 2004, I have worked in Speech & Natural Language Processing. I started researching on Machine Learning applied to Text-to-Speech and Speech Recognition at IBM.
Later, I joined the recently created start-up INDISYS (Intelligent Dialogue Systems S.L.), where I worked for 8 years. We successfully deployed disruptive solutions in several countries using our own Dialog Manager and Natural Language Processing technologies. At INDISYS, I contributed to create a success product and a deep background in computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, cognitive science and machine learning.
In 2013, INDISYS was acquired by INTEL (http://goo.gl/xtDt2O).
Currently, I lead a software engineering team within the New Devices Group at INTEL.
My technical expertise ranges from programming languages (C, C++, Java, Objective-C, C#, Python, ...), mobile platforms (iOS, Android), web development (J2EE, Web Services, ...), cloud services (virtualization, scalability, auto-resizing, ...) to all natural language related technologies (Multimodal Dialogue Management, Text-to-Speech, Speech Recognition, Machine Translation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, User Interfaces, etc.).
We will talk naturally to our devices and wearables in the near future but there is still a lot of work ahead :-)
Software Engineering Manager @ Currently working on wearable-related projects within the New Devices Group at Intel.
I lead a software engineering team and also acting as Scrum Product Owner. From July 2013 to Present (2 years 6 months) Project Manager @ Project Manager for several customer solutions and also supporting the Sales Department as a pre-sales engineer.
Managing an engineering team responsible for:
- Development of customers' integration special needs.
- Mobile development (Android and iOS).
- Designing the cloud and virtualization architecture to improve performance and scalability of the virtual assistant solution.
- Monitoring and business intelligence tools.
- Development and testing tools for linguists.
- Indisys Website: including a Virtual Assistant with advanced features such as co-browsing, switch language ‘on-the-fly’, proactivity, etc. From January 2009 to June 2013 (4 years 6 months) Ph.D Student (Julietta Research Group) @ Researching on Natural Language Processing and Multilingual and Multimodal Dialogue Management applied to several fields: Home Automation, Air-Traffic Control, Social Networks and impaired people.
Projects:
- DIMMO: “Ontology-based Multimodal Dialogues”. Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (TIN2099-14659-C03-03). Spanish Government.
- AVIDEA: “Virtual Assistant for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing People”. Proyectos de Excelencia. Junta de Andalucía (P09-TIC-5138). Andalusia Government.
- ATLANTIDA: “Application of Leader to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technologies for ATM R&D”. Proyectos CÉNIT 2006. Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología. Spanish Government.
- GILDA: “Natural Language Generation for Dialogue Systems”. Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología (TIN2006-14433-C02-02). Spanish Government.
- TALK: “Talk and Look, Tools for Ambient Linguistic Knowledge”. FP6-507802 European Union. 6th Framework Programme (IST-2002-507802). From January 2006 to September 2012 (6 years 9 months) Software Development Team Lead @ Designing and developing disruptive dialogue management features.
Also designing new development and testing tools for linguists.
Leading the development of new user interfaces for Virtual Assistants in web and mobile environments. Including the creation of proprietary technology to build photo-realistic and animated avatars based on real pictures. From June 2007 to December 2008 (1 year 7 months) Software Engineer @ I was part of the core development team working on big lexicons, parsing and dialogue management. Likewise, I was responsible for designing data sources integration solutions (databases, web services, ontologies, etc.).
We also developed "Hispavoces", a new high-quality Spanish voice package for Festival TTS.
This package was firstly included in Guadalinex, a regional Ubuntu-based distro.
http://forja.guadalinex.org/projects/hispavoces From June 2005 to May 2007 (2 years) Research Fellow @ I worked in the Speech R&D WW organization as a Software Engineer, researching on Unsupervised Machine Learning and Part-of-Speech Tagging for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies. From January 2004 to June 2004 (6 months)
Master Degree, Technology and Software Engineering @ Universidad de Sevilla From 2006 to 2008 Ingeniero en Informática, Computer Science @ Universidad de Sevilla From 2003 to 2006 Computer Information Systems, Computer Science @ Missouri Valley College From 2004 to 2004 Ingeniero Técnico en Informática de Gestión, Bachelor of Software Engineering @ Universidad de Cádiz From 1999 to 2002 Jesús Martí is skilled in: Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Software Development, Artificial Intelligence, Speech Recognition, Web Services, Software Design, Databases, Distributed Systems, Computational Linguistics, Eclipse, C++, Java
