Assess current accounting operations and offer recommendations for improvement and implementation of new processes From May 2014 to October 2014 (6 months) Corporate Controller @ Reported directly to the CFO of the company and lead a group of 13 with 6 direct reports. I was responsible for all treasury functions, maintained the ledger for 5 companies under the Fleetgistics umbrella, produced a full set of financial statements, ran the year end financial and 401k audits, worked with implementation groups to transition processes, consolidated accounting departments and all functions to shared service center and provided financial information to executive team while ensuring the day to day transactions were handled timely and accurately. From May 2009 to May 2014 (5 years 1 month) Controller @ As Controller my primary function was to protect the companies assets. I managed the accounting department and led my team during month and year end processes. I dealt directly with auditors for all year end audits, reported directly to the CFO and provided all financial information to owners, vendors and lenders.
I played a major role in the $10m 2008 acquisition of a NJ/PA company which increased the company size by 40%.
My responsibilities at Flagler not only including all accounting functions and running the accounting department but included building and maintaining relationships with vendors, customers and lenders. I regularly dealt with insurance companies to negotiate premiums for all companies insurance policies, dealt with lenders providing financial information to maintain lines of credit and dealings with unions regarding contracts and benefits for union employees. My daily responsibilites included treasury functions to ensure proper fundings of all bank accounts and maintain cash balances. From March 2008 to March 2009 (1 year 1 month) Accounting Supervisor @ My primary responsibilities at CNL included maintaining general ledger, month end close while leading Jr. Accountants in processes for month end close, mentoring and/or supervising Jr. Accountants and maintaining and building relationships with customers and vendors.
I left CNL late 2007 to pursue a career with a smaller company so I could be more hands on with many different tasks to increase and broaden my experience in accounting. From July 2004 to December 2007 (3 years 6 months) Sr Accountant @ My primary functions at Marriott Vacation club included Balance sheet variance explanations to Director and auditors, creating monthly cash flow statements, budgeting and monthly forecasting, assisting in Business Plan and Long Range Plan, and maintaining inventory sales reports and other various schedules as part of the management monthly reports.
I left Marriott to pursue a postion with CNL. Though a great opportunity, Marriott was more of a financial position, where my forte is in accounting. From December 2003 to July 2004 (8 months) Orlando, Florida AreaStaff Accountant @ My responsibilities at Budget included Treasury functions, month end close and maintaining ledgers, obtaining licenses and necessary permits to operate businesses in specific locations and ensuring proper registration with various municipalities, filing personal property, real estate and sales tax returns for multiple car and truck rental locations and preparing adhoc and routine schedules for upper management and auditors. From September 1999 to December 2003 (4 years 4 months) Accounting Assistant @ As an accounting assistant my primary functions were to assist the Sr accountant with month end close.
