I believe in software as a universal tool for improving peoples’ lives and enjoy getting wrapped up in the development process of such tools. At two exceptional universities, I acquired, not only technical skills and knowledge, but also hands on real world application of what I’ve learned. Through Northeastern University’s six-month co-op program, I worked as a full-time employee at two outstanding companies, Hercules Technology Growth Capital and Copass, Inc. I traveled across the United States twice, explored the entire West Coast, lived for six months in Paris, France, and visited ten European countries. On these journeys I learned much more than just software development. The experiences taught me entirely different ways of living and working as well as opened my mind to new perspectives. Among the traits I’ve acquired, prioritization and the ability to stay focused have undoubtedly been the most useful.
Outside of school and work, I’m a very social, outgoing, and industrious person. I value being outdoors which makes me more focused when I get behind the screen. I believe that confidence in uncomfortable and challenging situations leads to self-growth in all areas of my life.

As a full stack developer I worked with the team to create new features for the Ruby-on-Rails based web application. The company was still in its early stages which meant we had to move fast and explore many different technologies to figure out the best solutions.
An early project of mine was to rebuild the message and notification center using all AJAX for a smooth user experience and no page refreshing. Later, I worked on an automated test suite for unit and end-to-end testing. I explored the capabilities of the latest frameworks such as Angular.js, which lead to developing great features such as the cospace and copasser type-ahead search engine. Bug fixing included cataloging our bugs and the work done on GitHub.
We employed the Scrum framework to keep things moving quickly. The experience taught me the power behind agile software development in a startup environment where I would like to work in the future.
