At Quintiles, I continued to work on Provenance, which was a key part of the acquisition. My responsibilities covered the full product lifecycle, including running usability studies, designing new features, implementation of new features, qa, release, and support. We extended Provenance to support visualization of public health datasets. To achieve this, I worked with POD consulting, a 3rd party consulting firm, to turn Provenance from a client side application into a client-server application. This enabled Quintiles to use Provenance as a common visualization tool for internal and external datasets when developing RFPs for outsourced clinical trials. The tool was used to analyze internal trial history, patient demographics, and proposed trial exclusion criteria. From 2008 to 2009 (1 year) Software Engineer @ Eidetics Eidetics was a small (~30-50 person) pharmaceutical market research company. I worked with a very small team to develop Provenance, a business intelligence tool supporting interactive analysis of quantitative and qualitative market research data. Provenance could generate bayesian belief net models from quantitative models build in SAS or qualitative models built using an english based syntax. Provenance also supported interactive querying of raw survey data.Applied for and received a patent for our translation layer that converted actions in the UI into SQL queries. As a side project, I also helped to develop a suite of excel macros, used for capacity planning/management and financial reporting.
