Software is not just about the bits, languages or frameworks, but it's also about the people. Great software is a result of great people + great culture. I believe strongly that it's crucial to a rewarding success in this industry.
I was born to be a part of a small fast-moving organization focused on building a great product, staffed with people who know how to "do the right thing". I want to continue to work with engaged, productive people who are genuinely excited to wake up each day to solve problems with software. Admirably, GitHub and Hubspot have nailed this cultural aspect, and it's encouraging to see these ideas take a stronger foothold elsewhere.
I'm happy to roll my sleeves up and get my hands dirty with most modern technology stacks, but I'm not looking for anything corporate-ish or Enterprise-y. I've contributed to many different open source projects in numerous languages with a basic mantra that a few minutes identifying a problem that's affecting me is worth fixing and giving back.
I'm an end-to-end full stack leader / engineer comfortable with ops, distributed data, virtualization, automated deploys, build servers / code quality, REST API design, and even browser frameworks like AngularJS. I recognize a good user experience, and love to see great design in software, and even furniture and architecture. I've helped charter teams through technology selections with a "best tool for the job" mentality. I've mentored fellow developers and work from a respect begets respect attitude -- even the best of us make mistakes, and I make sure to never forget that. I like demonstrating new tech to others and sharing productivity tips, but it's even better when I'm learning a new keyboard shortcut from an excited team member.
