► Who am I?
My name is Emiel Joosten. Currently, I'm a student of the Bachelor Business IT & Management at Avans University for Applied Sciences in Breda, The Netherlands. I've done several projects at school and project members often call me a real team player with an great eye for detail. I am therefore described as an enthusiastic, inquisitive student with big ambitions.
► What do I want to achieve?
Business IT is getting increasingly important and during my study I want to learn and experience as much as possible. I will take every chance to excel or to grow in my knowledge and experience. This ambition is reflected in the fact that I followed the IT Honours Program alongside my studies at school (see: projects). I also get relatively high marks and I apply myself for the school as a Promotional Student (see: work experience). At the moment, I'm getting increasingly more eager about Business Intelligence and Information Management.
Member Studentsunit @ To become a member of the Sogeti studentsunit, you have to pass an Engineering capacity test and you have to make a personality test. The capacity test includes questions about:
- series of numbers; (score: 82%)
- verbal analogies; (score: 91%)
- flowcharts; (score: 92%)
- series of figures. (score: 92%)
As a member of the Sogeti Studentsunit, I have the chance to develop my skills and knowledge next to my regular education. I can participate in meetings, courses and trainings, organised by Sogeti. The courses Sogeti offers are mostly IT-based, like:
- TMAP;
- Mindmapping;
- Prince2,
Next to attending some courses, I will also expand my professional network with the other members of the Studentsunit and with some Sogeti employees. This membership will only last as long as my studies take, so I have to attend some courses during my studies. From September 2014 to Present (1 year 4 months) Promotional Student @ At the Avans University of Applied Sciences (1st grade), I helped as a promotional student to provide correct information about the courses: Informatics and Business IT & Management.
I tried to inform the new students as much as possible, using facts and my own experiences.
In the second grade I was part of the Promotional team to manage all open days, intakes and trial classes. Also, I initiated a project to inform new students about Business IT & Management, Informatics, Technical Informatics and Communication and Multimedia Design. The plan was to contact schools to give a presentation about these educations instead of waiting for them to ask for a presentation. In this way, these educations gained more reputation. From September 2012 to Present (3 years 4 months) Business Consultant @ Together with Laurens van Borssum Waalkes, Stijn Hoeke, Rick Overhof and Brandon Verzuu, we were participating in an change management consultancy assignment as part of our study Business IT & Management.
This project was based on the main question: "How can an architect set up his organization with the advent of BIM?" To answer this questiion, we investigated BIM (Building Information Modelling) with a literature study and a branche study. The branche study included some theoretical models which enabled us to investigate the branche and the market architects are operating in.
Developing a conceptual model was a part of our project. Based on the two studies, we developed a conceptual model which enables Wolfs Architecten to measure their organization how "BIM-ready" they are using a maturaty matrix. This BIM maturity matrix is based on drie key factors when it comes to succesfully implement BIM in the organization.
The last part of this project was about creating a consultancy report in which all the conclusions were included of the two studies. The project was honored with a score of 8,8. We would like to thank Wolfs Architecten for the great collaboration.
