Newly minted Master of Information (Management and Systems) at the gates of tech. Trained as an electrical engineer I bring with me a keen analytical mind and curiosity for how things work. At the school of information I have explored the complex interplay of society and technology, but mostly I have built a bevy of web based projects. I am excited about the tremendous power of internet technology and how quickly ideas can be designed, built, tested and refined. I am inspired by scientific method and user-centered design.
Specialties:
Building rich web based applications
UI design/development
User-centered design
Rapid Prototyping
Physical computing
Design of electrical systems for buildings
Software Engineer @ From September 2014 to Present (1 year 4 months) GSI @ Member of the teaching team for EE 40, an introductory course in microelectronics. I ran two lab sections where students grasped the concepts of circuit theory through hands on practice. I helped them with the theory and practice of basics circuit theory. From January 2013 to December 2013 (1 year) UI Engineer Intern @ Building out the "What's New Activity" feature for the game console PS4. I built several bespoke UI components using SNEI's proprietary UI framework based on familiar web technologies such as OpenGL, javascript, XML and CSS. Practiced agile development (SNEI style) working through user stories and sprints and meeting quick paced deadlines while ensuring UI components worked. From June 2013 to August 2013 (3 months) Reader @ I graded homework for EE 40 and introductory course in microelectronics. I had the role of head Reader and managed two other readers. As the head reader I coordinated homework pick-up and grading. I ensured all homework was graded and returned on time. From June 2012 to December 2012 (7 months) Electrical Engineer @ Design and documentation of efficient electrical distribution systems for buildings, general lighting and controls, and fire alarm systems. Have worked on a variety of projects; different in complexity and scale, program and at various stages of design including some retrofit work. Sample projects include: Laguna Honda Hospital, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Bay Meadows Redevelopment irrigation pond, SMC McKeon Pavilion expansion and multiple high profile retail stores. From July 2008 to May 2012 (3 years 11 months) Engineer @ Conducted investigative site surveys for retrofit projects. Developed, with supervision, code compliant designs to meet Client goals. Helped to produce design documents for a variety of projects including an elementary school expansion, fire station and affordable housing complexes. From November 2007 to July 2008 (9 months) Technician @ Worked with Solidworks to document and develop a parts library for production equipment. Measured all parts for a bobbin winding machine and created engineering drawings for replication of machine using Solidworks. Assembled and tested machine for use on manufacturing floor. From June 2004 to August 2004 (3 months) Principal @ As an industrious child in a suburban neighborhood I packaged my domestic skills and offered them as a quality service to my neighbors. I cared for the lawns of six homes which included mowing, trimming, weeding and sweeping. I also watched the pets of three families often with the help of my associate Jourdan Kan. I specialized in cat care but cared for a variety of animals including fish and dogs. From June 1996 to September 1999 (3 years 4 months)
