Sales Executive, Public Sector Services @ I have recently taken a new and exciting challenge with Northgate Public Sector. This is an extraordinary organisation with over 11,000 employees operating in 35 countries across 5 continents. The company is a leader in helping clients to transform business-critical operations to deliver more efficient and effective people-critical services and by doing so, has saved well over £200m from the public purse.
Initially my role will focus on promoting service transformation in:

where the company has developed robust, scalable and mature cloud-based platforms which are capable of delivering highly innovative, flexible services to the market. In time, the service portfolio will be extended to other business areas where transformation can make a real difference to service quality and the Citizen experience. From May 2014 to Present (1 year 8 months) Business Development Director, North West @ Over the past five years, I have been responsible for proactively seeking and closing new business opportunities, predominantly in Local and Central Government such as:
St Helens Building Schools for Futures;
Sales and commercial lead for the successful £32m ICT service contract which formed part of the £152m E4L Bid Consortium (Agilisys, Interserve and Barclays Finance). This submission was awarded the highest aggregate score of 88% for a BSF contract.
North Somerset Council;
Bid lead for EDRMS and Customer Services which made a substantial contribution to the successful £101m contract award for the 10-year North Somerset strategic partnership.
Elevate East London;
Sales and commercial lead for the successful £21m transition of HR/Payroll and Property Services into Elevate, driving the business case through the programme board and cabinet approval to conclusion.
Disclosure & Barring Service;
Bid lead for £29m ICT services, part of the Assure First Consortium (Agilisys, Detica and Methods Consulting) in the £150m Home Office Lean Procurement Pathfinder. This submission was awarded 2nd place from 27 original bidders and was the first major Central Government bid undertaken by Agilisys.
Sales lead for the successful £6m ERP project to transform business processes in Finance, HR, Payroll and Procurement services across the Council.
Sales and commercial lead for the £11.9m Print Unit Consolidation into the partnership, with plans to extend the service with a highly innovative Digital Mail Room facility for the four partners (Wigan Council, Bolton Council, Wigan Leisure Trust and Wigan & Leigh Housing).
During my time at Agilisys, I have made a significant contribution to the company’s continued growth plan which saw the forward order book peak at well over £650m. From May 2009 to April 2014 (5 years) Business Development Director @ Motive Technology is one of the UK’s largest independent software developers, specialising in e-commerce solutions, bespoke software development, website design and document management services.
My role includes the day to day running of the bespoke development sales team in conjunction with pre-sales and consultancy. Key activities include sales/marketing strategy, business planning, account planning and the development of a cohesive and effective new business sales team.
Corporate clients include BSS Group Plc, First Rail Group, Eddie Stobart, Innovate Logistics, Bakkavor and Wolsey Clothing Group.
I have successfully negotiated Catalist Partner status for our Public Sector portfolio, which includes NHS Professionals, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, The Public Health Action Support Team, Pembrokeshire County Council, The Yorkshire Dales Tourism Partnership, Federation of Opthalmic Opticians and LOC Support (which incorprates 85 LOC's & PCT's). From January 2008 to May 2009 (1 year 5 months) Sales Director @ Footprint Solutions are an innovative provider of Document & Record Management solutions and services to the Public Sector. The solution portfolio has been developed in conjunction with a number of Local and Central Government organisations.
Clients included The Information Commissioner's Office, The Home Office, The Cabinet Office, The Audit Commission, The Legal Services Commission and HM Treasury. Contracts were typically negotiated with the Head of Records/Archiving and I am very well connected within this framework.
I have worked with The National Archives Seamless Flow programme team; an initiative which will provide the ability for all Local and Central Government Departments to electronically archive records into the TNA's repositories. I was a guest speaker at the TNA's National Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester (some 200 Records Officers were in attendance). From April 2006 to December 2007 (1 year 9 months) Sales Director @ Compuweb Online, established in 1998, grew to be a leading player in the provision of high-end Managed IT Services. The traditional markets included Desktop, Hardware and Remote Support Services. My role as UK Sales Director was to formulate a strategy that incorporated value added solutions such as Electronic Document Management and other high profit margin sales.
I successfully negotiated highly profitable EDRM solutions, such as Exide Technology, to provide product design and collaboration to over 900 staff in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, GmbH, Italy, France and Portugal. The solution was based upon an Oracle platform, which is Exide's group IT standard. Throughout the project, I worked with the Senior Manager in each European region and negotiated at board level.
Other key wins included Trinity Mirror Group Plc, Smiths Aerospace, United Utilities, Staples Plc, National Grid Transco and many others. From October 2002 to March 2006 (3 years 6 months) Sales Director @ Combined Design Technologies, established in 1996, and soon became one of Europe’s leading Electronic Document Management resellers. The company also provided a range of CAD/CAM systems, mainly to Manufacturing, Construction and Major UK Utilities.
As a successful member of the Board at CDT, my key achievements included:
• Increasing sales turnover consistently over 7 years to £4.8m
• The development of an EDM sales strategy to enhance profitability
• A focused sales campaign to drive business into vertical markets
• Development of Telemarketing, Internal and External sales Teams
• Implementation of a TQM program to ISO/9001
• A successful program of corporate sales and strategic partners
My role also included the successful and continuous development of an ‘open door’ management theme in order to promote effective communication between sales, engineering, operations and logistics. From November 1996 to October 2002 (6 years) UK Sales Manager @ AP Technical Computing, established in 1992, was considered to be one of the UK’s leading Autodesk System Centres. Core business activities included the supply and configuration of bespoke CAD/CAM workstation, strategic application software, networking, systems integration and value added services.
As a successful member of the Executive Management Team at APT, having been promoted from Sales Executive, to Sales Manager and finally UK Sales Manager, my key achievements included:
• Increasing sales turnover from £285k to £2.9m within three years
• The development of a solutions sale strategy
• The introduction of Electronic Document Management services
• A Telemarketing Team, which contributed to 65% of annual sales
• A successful program of strategic partner alliance
Under my guidance, APT also won a number of business awards including the North West Young Business Enterprise Award which was hosted by Tony Wilson and appeared on Granada Television. From June 1993 to October 1996 (3 years 5 months) Retail Products Sales Manager @ Photonic were the UK largest privately owned Autodesk System Centre, providing a wide range of CAD/CAM based solutions to industry and commerce. I formed part of a successful UK wide sales team, involved in the supply and implementation of bespoke 2D and 3D design systems. I was promoted from a Technical Support role, to Sales Executive and finally Retail Products Sales Manager.
I was involved in the development and implementation of the BS5750 Quality Management system, which included national offices from Manchester, Wakefield, Halesowen and Guildford. From March 1990 to June 1993 (3 years 4 months) Project Engineer @ Nordson are primarily involved in the supply of specialist Automated Finishing Systems. This involves the application of Powder Enamel Coatings through the use of Robotics and Purpose Built Machinery.
I joined Nordson as a Service Engineer, working primarily on Robotics and Control Systems. I was involved in the design and implementation of Nordson’s largest UK installation at Hitachi Microwave and subsequently promoted to Special Projects Manager in recognition of this achievement.
Duties involved the implementation of projects within extremely aggressive timescale and budget; typical project value ranged between £225k to £1.6M. This involved managing the project from concept to completion, liaising with in-house technicians, external contractors, partners and suppliers. From March 1985 to March 1990 (5 years 1 month) Senior Technician, Applied Sciences @ I consider my years spent at the University gave me one of the best groundings and insights into modern manufacturing methods, to the extent that I consider the knowledge I gained to be that of a graduate standard combined with practical, hands-on skills.
Working with professional and vastly skilled Engineers, Graduates and Senior Lecturers, I was involved in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical assembles, mainly for industrial research.
Project sponsors included the likes of Rolls Royce, ICI Group, Asea Brown Boveri, Whitbread, Lotus, Dowty and GEC. From August 1979 to March 1985 (5 years 8 months)
