Maintenance Manager @ Maintenance Manager Diesel and CNG heavy-duty trucks.
Manages the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment within the assigned area, in alignment with corporate objectives.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Continually focuses on achieving market base profitability through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area, including cost control, employee development, and high training and safety standards.
• Reviews capital equipment requisitions in line with corporate guidelines and objectives.
• Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
• Manages effective utilization of vehicle assets.
• Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
• Ensures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
• Meets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
• Assists in budget process as required.
• Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
• Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
• Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
• Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
• Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
• Direct supervision of full-time employees.
• Train and share the knowledge gained over the last 40 years including; 11 ASE Certifications, Certified Automotive and Diesel Mechanic since 1976. In addition training received from 1981 thru 1991 from First Energy Corporation and 1993 to present from Waste Management. From April 1993 to Present (22 years 9 months) Senior Auxiliary Tender @ Power Plant Operator at a 3000 Mega-Watt generating facility from 1981 to 1991.
• Makes frequent rounds of the facility to ensure proper operation of equipment, materials storage and handling, facility security, cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Completes the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed.
• Ensures that the facility and all personnel operate safely at all times and promotes an environment whereby safety is a priority. Follows and ensures staff follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety and environmental hazards.
• Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio or face to face.
• Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoot equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.
• Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment, Feeders, Mills, Pollution control equipment, et al; scrubbers, absorbers, precipitators, etc.
• Responds and reports to work during off hours when emergency assistance or repairs are required.
• Assumes increased levels of responsibility when required or requested. Performs lesser skilled duties when required or requested. From March 1981 to June 1991 (10 years 4 months)
