📖 Summary
CS 61A/61C Lab Assistant @ UC Berkeley Aided instructors in teaching lab sections for an intro to computer science and computer architecture courses. Worked with students one-on-one to help them with weekly assignments. From January 2013 to December 2013 (1 year) UC BerkeleyIT Officer @ Tau Beta Pi Developed a Django application for Tau Beta Pi's website to rate and review courses at UC Berkeley. From December 2012 to June 2013 (7 months) UC BerkeleyDeveloper @ Blueprint, Technology for Non-Profits Developed a web application for non-profit organization Foodshift to coordinate deliveries for food recovery when organizations have surplus food. Wrote client-side logic with React and a Rails-based backend. Application allows potential food donors to schedule donations, recipients to be notified of relevant donations, and "shifters" to coordinate the delivery process between donors and recipients. From August 2014 to May 2015 (10 months) UC BerkeleyDeveloper @ Blueprint, Technology for Non-Profits Developed a Django application for the Suitcase Clinic, a nonprofit organization that provides social services for the underprivileged. Aggregates and organizes different resources that workers give to their clients, and allows their clients to provide feedback about services. From September 2013 to June 2014 (10 months) UC BerkeleyMentor @ Pioneers in Engineering Mentored a team of students at a local high school in building and programming a robot for PiE's yearly robotics competition. From January 2013 to April 2013 (4 months) UC BerkeleySoftware Engineer @ Groupon Developed Apache Spark library for writing I/O-heavy streaming applications that ingest large amounts of Kafka data.Built Spark application to persist Kafka data into HDFS efficiently.Migrated Kafka infrastructure across data centers. Coordinated migration steps with other teams dependent on Kafka and built tools necessary to perform migration with no data loss and minimal downtime.Developed Spark library to integrate aggregated application-level metrics with Spark’s internal metrics system (github.com/groupon/spark-metrics).Supported other teams that use our team’s shared Kafka and Hadoop infrastructure by helping investigate application performance, data quality, and other various issues. From August 2015 to December 2016 (1 year 5 months) Palo AltoSoftware Engineering Intern @ Groupon Built a tool using Apache Storm to measure the latencies of events in a data stream at different points in Groupon's data pipeline.Designed and prototyped a system on top of Logstash and Kafka to audit a data stream to monitor if events are successfully being delivered to consumers.Wrote a Java library for Storm to collect and publish aggregated application-level metrics across a topology. From June 2014 to August 2014 (3 months) Palo AltoProgrammer @ Residential Computing, UC Berkeley Designed new hiring administration system with Django. Developed the public-facing job application and the internal administration interface. Maintained legacy Perl web applications. Documented usage of various development tools and processes. From April 2013 to August 2014 (1 year 5 months) UC BerkeleyResearch Assistant @ Software Defined Buildings Developed a Javascript tool for a Monte Carlo simulation of a building occupant's thermal comfort. Created a display using the D3 library.Wrote a Python tool to aggregate energy usage from different energy monitors in a building by using the sMAP framework. From March 2013 to August 2013 (6 months) UC BerkeleyStaff Software Engineer, Machine Learning @ VSCO® Lead engineer on collaborative filtering system to generate who-to-follow recommendationsLead engineer on bringing community features for videos ("like", "repost") to parity with imagesOne of core maintainers for Bazel-based CI system for Go and Scala/Java monoreposAuthor of internal Scala library to integrate Protocol Buffer schemas with Apache Spark via Catalyst engineAuthor of internal Go library for Kafka consumption, used as foundation for consumer services at VSCOLead engineer on pipeline to ingest Mongo/MySQL replication logs into S3 and enable queries for OLAP systemsMigrated ETL pipelines for mobile instrumentation from external vendor to in-house system built on Spark, Kafka, and AirflowSupport various product and platform needs through code reviews, design discussions, and implementing smaller features Project Lead @ Blueprint, Technology for Non-Profits Lead the development of a Django web platform for the Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center. Goal was to engage professionals from the arts and tech industries to volunteer and teach courses at ODALC. Scoped out product features for a ten-week timeline, conducted code reviews, and was the main point of contact with our partners at ODALC. From December 2013 to August 2014 (9 months) UC Berkeley
