I’ve always been fascinated with science, math, and sound, but I’ve spent most of my life assuming that computer science was the most boring thing on earth. This year, though, I enrolled in Bloc (an online bootcamp) and I quit my job so that I could focus on learning programming and web development. Programming is the most intellectually invigorating thing I’ve found myself doing since I left college, and the idea of doing this for a living is incredibly thrilling to me. I’m equally excited by the ideas of open education, open educational resources, open-source mapping, and open-source anything that lets us better understand the world we live in.
