I've recently graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Informatics/Software Engineering specializing in Human-Computer Interaction. Upon delving into the Computer Science field, I have gained skills that help me utilize technology to further my creative abilities via personal, professional and educational platforms. Software has helped shape me into a more technical thinker, providing me with life-changing skills that I hope to supplement my career and life beyond my educational endeavors.
During my academic career, I have accumulated over three years experience in Python and JavaScript programming, and about two year's experience in Java programming/testing. My expertise revolve around designing and maintaining websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and XML. I have extensive practice creating UI/UX mockups, prototypes, and requirements plans/modules for software projects.
I developed professional web development experience as an intern with Thales Avionics. Using JavaScript, jQuery and a client-server connection via Node.js, I learned to create a GUI that serves as client-side simulation of an SDK product released to third-party developers. To expand my expertise outside of web development, I interned with IBM as an SVT specialist for the IBM eDiscovery Analyzer and eDiscovery Manager products. After two corporate internships, I co-initiated an entrepreneurial senior design project called UBO for my last year at UCI; My role included graphic design and front-end implementation for the application.
Currently I am a full-time software developer for IBM's API Management product, located in Silicon Valley.
Software Engineer @ • Responsible as the main UI Developer in California working with software engineers in the San Jose location, while simultaneously working (remotely and traveling to England to work in-person) with the primary UI team in Hursley, UK
• Developing front-end implementation of API Manager – a young, distributed product for IBM Cloud that aides customers in creating new APIs, managing all APIs used for project development, in addition to viewing analytics for all users and APIs
• Using JavaScript via Dojo and Angular.js toolkits, along with XmlHttpRequest for server communication: accountable for implementing effective solutions for defects, improvising previous code, and creating newer application pages for monthly releases of API Manager
• Technologies include: REST, NODE.js, Dojo, Angular.js, Twitter Bootstrap, Atom, Vagrant, and Git From April 2015 to Present (9 months) UBO - Entrepreneurial Project @ • Worked constructively in a team of 6 students and IBM sponsor Martin Nally to produce a successful senior design project
• A minimalistic project management tool that provides a simple, responsive task list which syncs with user's calendars/events for optimal productivity and organization
• For half the year, we partnered with IBM to use the Linked Data for Applications (LDA) as the framework to build our application; we later switched to Meteor framework and revamped the product from scratch
• My responsibilities included front-end implementation of the application using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Twitter Bootstrap and Adobe Photoshop for graphic design (logos and showcase posters)
• Additional technologies include: REST, IBM’s LDA framework, Knockout.js, Vagrant, OAuth and Google Calendar API, RDF and Webstorm From April 2014 to March 2015 (1 year) SVT Engineering Intern @ • Worked productively in a team comprised of members internationally and nationally
• Using IBM's Rational Performance Tester, created and performed automated regression tests on IBM eDiscovery Analyzer and IBM eDiscovery Manager applications to detect performance and usability defects
• Manually performed user interface profiling to analyze cache for cold, hot and warm scenarios
• Collected response times to determine browser memory leak regression using Firefox Firebug and Net Export tools
• Generated data performance system reports for manual and automated test cases From February 2014 to July 2014 (6 months) Web Development Intern @ • Employing an agile work environment, coordinated and worked amongst two teams comprised of 8-10 members
• Initially edited and debugged a GUI that is created for large corporations to produce in-flight entertainment systems
• Constructed a graphical user interface for a long-term project, implementing a software development kit
• Worked with team members on communication between the web server and client-side simulation, to send and receive data to display on the GUI
• Extensive experience using Linux Ubuntu, JavaScript, HTML, Twitter Bootstrap, and browser configuration From June 2013 to January 2014 (8 months) Private Tutor @ • Tutored special needs elementary school student for 2-3 months on a daily basis
• Taught mainly Math, Science, and English
• Helped complete additional homework, enhance reading skills, and work on proper behavior
• Gained experience by academically working with special needs student From March 2013 to May 2013 (3 months) Civil Engineering Intern @ • Worked extensively in Microsoft Word/Excel to update the California MUTCD website
• Perused and checked traffic signs, pavement markings and traffic signal policies and sign codes for errors and inconsistencies, altered engineering figures and tables described in the manual
• Used HTML/CSS and Dreamweaver to provide updates for the California MUTCD website
• Created and edited Microsoft Excel spreadsheets From June 2011 to September 2011 (4 months) Yearbook Editor - Academics Section @ • Academics section editor-in-chief for the high school yearbook
• Accountable for over 50 students; writing and editing featured stories
• Created book pages with Adobe Photoshop and IN Design
• Contacted sponsors for the yearbook: Prestige Portraits and Green Retreats Landscaping
• Conducted on-campus fundraising in order to add additional features/graphics to the book From September 2008 to May 2010 (1 year 9 months)
