Home Energy Advisor @ Sealed After college I decided to work at new start-up that was making waves in the residential and regulatory energy sphere: Sealed. What is Sealed? Sealed is the first energy company to accurately analyze and guarantee the energy savings on a homeowner's efficiency project. While at Sealed, I worked not only as a Home Energy Consultant, but I also constructed customer facing company materials, self-taught and taught others new energy analytic software, streamlined the sales and analytic processes, and photographed the homeowners' projects.When not in the office, I was gathering data points and interacting with our clients and homeowners on Long Island. During the home energy assessment, I learned both the story of the home and the homeowner themselves.Therefore through numerous home energy audits, I learned the ins- and outs- of how to talk with clients as both a company ambassador and a salesmen; the latter took a lot more reading, practice, and hard work to get good at. My time at Sealed also taught me things that I would never have gained working at a larger, more established company. At Sealed I learned the necessity of being able to work both as a team and independently. In the startup world, things are moving so quickly that when you have an idea, you must be the one to shepherd it along. My boss, Andy Frank, also taught that should never leave anything up to chance, and he would always tell me,"Remember Alec, you need to have a back up plan to your backup plan."
