Vernon worked for the Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Home Affairs Committee, heading the Parliamentary office. He was Public Affairs Manager of the Institution of Civil Engineers from 2008 to 2011 working with a variety of public and private sector organisations in the construction and infrastructure sector. He has managed a number of All Party Parliamentary Groups and Campaigns.
He set up Horseferry Public Affairs in 2012. He became Government Affairs Director for the British Hospitality Association in 2015.
He is an active committee member of the Public Affairs Group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, currently serving as Vice-Chair.
