Professor & Managing Director - Ballard Center / Peery Program @ I am the Ashoka U Changemaker Campus Change-Leader at BYU. I founded the newest center and program at the Marriott School at BYU. The overarching goal of the Melvin J. Ballard Center for Economic Self-Reliance and the Peery Social Entrepreneurship Program is to give students the opportunity to create a life of greater meaning by applying their skill sets to the field of social innovation part- or full-time.
I am responsible for strategy, resource development, implementation, team creation, and stewardship accountability to the center's supporters. From 2002 to Present (13 years) Principal @ I'm interested in helping great social enterprises become even better. I've been involved in a number of exciting social ventures as consultant, director, advisor, and board member. From 2008 to Present (7 years) Co-Founder, Executive Director, and Board Member @ My involvement in co-creating Unitus was one of the highlights of my life. It started with my good friend Joseph Grenny and our wifes and was called Humanitarian Link. As our focus intensified and the board grew we realized the power off 'oneness' to address poverty and renamed the organization Unitus. Today, thanks to the tireless efforts and treasures of many others, Unitus is a widely recognized social enterprise headquartered in Seattle, Washington. From 1998 to 2002 (4 years) Major Account Executive @ My success at Sequent allowed my wife and I to take a few years ‘off’ to become involved with our new vocations. What a blessing it was to inherit an opportunity to take on a languishing account at Boeing and exceed all expectations every succeeding year. Over those years I was able to facilitate the creation of a dream team that grew from just one (me) to some forty-five professionals. One of 400 sales teams around the world, we produced just under 20% of Sequent’s revenue when I left in 1997 to pursue my second career in social innovation. From 1989 to 1997 (8 years)
