I have over 9 years experience of working in the Building Services industry within the drafting and consulting field. Working for a number of major global multi-discipline consultancies I have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience. With a HNC in Electrical design I am highly experienced in M&E drafting and the fundamentals of electrical design principals. I take pride and care in the production of accurate drawings in accordance with BS 1192. Over the last 9 years, I have gained valuable experience working on commercial and industrial projects that include both refurbished and new build construction projects within both the private and public sectors. In my current role I have gained experience of managing a small team of CAD Operators / technicians both in the Bristol office and across the South West. Conforming to the company CAD standards, liaising with client, Architects and design team. I have utilised extranets on projects such as 4projects, Asite & BIW. I believe that for cost effective and accurate drafting, I have successfully implemented automated bespoke solutions throughout my current drawing office helping to reduce errors and standardise drawing appearances. Recently, I have received training for Autodesk REVIT MEP for the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and have been tasked at implementing this software within my current drawing office. BIM and Revit are still widely misunderstood within our industry, people still believe it to be just a way to generate a 3D drawing, and this is not the case. I fully appreciate the benefits that Revit and BIM has to offer for the majority of live projects. I am trying to educate my colleagues and peers about the many other benefits of this new and exciting technology. I am also a member of the recently formed Bristol Revit User Group (BRUG).

Over the past year I have been creating and maintaining all the BIM standards and revit content which has been deployed across the business. My main role at present is to implement revit and BIM throughout the company. I am responsible for resourcing all the CAD and BIM requirements for all Bristol led projects and where appropriate employ contract or permanent staff as I see fit. Training staff is a large part of the role be that for BIM awareness training or delivering Revit training tailored to our own practices and procedures. My largest task however has been implementing BIM within Silcock Dawson. This has involved creating a customised Revit template as well as bespoke family creation to parallel with the company CAD standards. Through creating a BIM execution plan I aim to streamline the implementation. A new culture within the company will need to be introduced. BIM awareness is a key part of the role along with training which will be introduced over the coming months. I like to make the CAD environment as simple as possible for any engineers who are required to produce drawings. I believe that through standardisation, automated processes can be introduced.
