Sr. Product Manager @ PeopleAdmin Owned the roadmap for SelectSuite, the talent management product line for Higher Ed. Supervised two technical product managers. Drove talent management product strategy for the Higher Ed market vertical by: discovering and validating market problems; quantifying opportunities, making sure they’re big enough to generate profit; defining and sizing market segments; developing business cases and pitching them to executive leadership and board for approval; positioning products for each type of buyer; cost analysis, product profitability, pricing strategies; go to market planning; conducting win/loss analysis. From February 2014 to October 2015 (1 year 9 months) Austin, TXGlobal Product Manager @ HomeAway.com Lead a cross-functional, international product line team dispersed across multiple geos. Was responsible for the global property listing content management platform that served 14 web properties in 13 countries in 11 languages. From February 2010 to July 2013 (3 years 6 months) Austin, TexasSr. Information Architect & Product Manager, Offers.com @ Vertive, Inc. Key member of the original team that brought the multiple award-winning website, Offers.com, from idea to market. Launched in February 2009. Acquired by Ziff-Davis, a division of J2 Global, in January 2016. From June 2008 to February 2010 (1 year 9 months) Product Manager @ itzbig Responsible for driving product features and refinements through Agile development cycles. Tasks included engaging users and stakeholders to gather and define requirements, producing use cases, process flows, wireframes, hi-fi mockups and end-user testing. I also ran the Product Semantics Program: research and development of controlled vocabularies that enabled itzbig’s proprietary semantic matching technology. Managed one person responsible for vocabulary research and development. From December 2006 to May 2008 (1 year 6 months) User Experience Architect @ Perceptive Sciences Corporation Lead a variety of projects for clients such as Diebold, Nokia and Tipping Point - 3Com. Duties included project planning and organization (participants, team members and clients were often scattered around the globe, mandating a meticulous degree of orchestration), estimation (time, budget and risk), and project management. From May 2005 to May 2006 (1 year 1 month) Research Assistant @ IC2 Institute - The University of Texas at Austin Provided user research, usability evaluations and user interface design consultation for the Digital Warrior project, an advanced distance learning/gaming system for the United States Army that simulates combat scenarios in real-time, as experienced through a Tactical Operations Center (TOC). Designed to train battalion-level battle captains to leverage integrated next-generation Army Battle Command Systems (ABCS) for improved tactical decision-making skills. From January 2005 to May 2005 (5 months) Director, Product Management @ Xactly Corp After Xactly acquired AlignStar, I stayed on to run the Territory product line: lead the cross-functional product line team; drove the product strategy, packaging, pricing and go-to-market for the next generation of cloud-based territory products; lead early technical roadmap planning for Xactly platform initiative; provided coaching and mentoring for product staff. From August 2017 to January 2020 (2 years 6 months) Austin, Texas AreaDirector of Product @ AlignStar Principal member of the leadership team that transformed AlignStar from a small lifestyle company into a growing enterprise software solution provider, and guided AlignStar to a successful acquisition by Xactly Corporation in July 2017. In my role, I was responsible for product and market strategy, while also driving the transformation of our business model from one based on the distribution of on-premise software to a provider of world-class enterprise SaaS solutions. In June of 2017, we launched AlignStar for Salesforce, a Salesforce app that helps field sales organizations create balanced, cost-efficient territories that drive sales force productivity. This is the first fit-for-purpose territory management app in the AppExchange that does not require the purchase of additional off-platform software. AlignStar for Salesforce has set a new bar for ease-of-use and learnability for territory planning software. We understand that our users, sales leaders and managers, don't want to fret over learning a new software application, so we designed the user experience with a focus on simplicity, so even a new user can be up-and-running after a 15 minute demo. Territory management is no longer a tool only sales ops knows how to use. Now anyone on the sales team can contribute to the territory planning process using AlignStar for Salesforce. From December 2016 to August 2017 (9 months) Austin, Texas AreaSr. Product Manager @ AlignStar I joined AlignStar because I saw a significant opportunity within the territory management market to create software solutions that would be useful to a much larger set of customer segments. While most of AlignStar's competitors focus on high-end territory management solutions designed for power users, I quickly learned that most companies did not need the deep feature set (and complicated user experience) that the leading vendors in this space offered. My job at AlignStar was to advance our vision toward a suite of cloud-based territory management solutions that serves a broad range of customers and users - even those that are not territory alignment experts - a solution that creates value throughout the entire territory management lifecycle.
