Network Engineer @ Engineer and implement core network and customer installations; including new facility and services turn-ups, ongoing migrations, grooming and disconnects. Responsible for the final network design, including equipment Bill of Materials, Project MOPs, SOWs and the end-to- end engineering. Ensure projects are completed on-time and within the established budget.
- Track and manage continuous capacity overbuilds on the Media network. Project manage all aspects from equipment ordering to the turn-up. This includes any Type 2 circuits, collocation, fiber, cross-connects etc. Co-ordinate site surveys, site access, work with internal teams (Network Infrastructure, Service delivery), and external vendors for the installation, test and turn-up.
- Provide technical support and input for design requests and specifications such as latency, routing, diversity, equipment recommendations and costs. Assist with RFPs as required.
- Responsible for all as-built engineering documentation in the systems. Input information into Hibernia’s tools and databases.
- Collaborate in the delivery of the services to the end customer. Assign capacity, ports and review test results etc. to ensure services are delivered in accordance with the customer Service Order(s).
- Review vendor roadmaps and releases to evaluate for new features and functionality that meet Hibernia’s requirements for network evolution and enhancements.
- Assist in the development and reporting of network metrics (for example, capacity utilization, run rate) as required. From September 2014 to Present (1 year 4 months) Network Support Engineer @ Troubleshooting network problems for customers and providing feedback about the cause and solution of the problem
• Identifying and resolving network disruptions affecting the Leaseweb network
• Configuring a wide range of network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers from various vendors(Cisco, Juniper, A10, Arista, Brocade, Radware)
• Maintenance of customer infrastructures and implementation of change requests
• Monitoring the network using available tools and identifying potential problems
• Hardware/software upgrades/updates on networking equipment
• Periodic checks verifying correct functionality, availability, bandwidth capacity and identify possible oversights
• Providing migration or upgrade plans for customer infrastructure
• Consulting with customers in order to translate their requirements into a scalable, secure network architecture. Implementation, management and mapping of final design
• Sharing knowledge with the team by creating articles on the internal wiki and delivering short presentations on various subjects
• Constantly concerned with increasing the productivity, automation and providing better structured information, while decreasing the workload.This is achieved by identifying issues/possible improvements after analysing the workflow/following procedure, collecting input from various involved teams and aggregating feedback into a request for change
