Senior Director Oncology Translational Research @ Head Lung Cancer Translational Research and Biomarkers. Created molecular pathology and bioinformatic groups to discover and validate biomarkers for clinical trials. Lead genomic and bioinformatics groups within the Translational Research department. Manage teams in US and Europe. Experience in assay development and validation in clinical trials from Phase I to LCM. Develop and manage outsourced work carried out by contract research organizations and key opinion leaders in the field of immuno-oncology and oncology. Member of Lung Tumor Strategy Group, of Due Diligence teams, and ad hoc member of the Companion Diagnostic Center of Excellence. Awarded Innovation Leadership Award and Philip B Hofmann Scientific Research Award. From October 2008 to Present (7 years 3 months) Greater Philadelphia AreaAssociate Director Clinical Biomarkers @ Translational work includes discovery and development of biomarkers for patient stratification and patient response to compounds in early development. Use of Transcriptional Profiling and Proteomics data for searching and validating biomarkers. Work with preclinical models of disease and clinical trial specimens in the fields of immunology, immuno-oncology and oncology. Designed and created the Molecular Pathology group for evaluation of pre-clinical and clinical trial specimens. Work in a matrix environment providing guidance for multiple programs from early drug discovery, discovery toxicology to life cycle management programs. Work with several compounds including Erbitux, Ixempra, Orencia, Sprycel and Yervoy. Member of the Pharmacodiagnostic Task Force Team to identify and evaluate diagnostic companions to our drugs. Group discovered two companion diagnostic markers for early development drugs. Manager of external alliances with Contract Research Organizations and principal investigators for the research and development of biomarkers for use in clinical trials. From May 2004 to October 2008 (4 years 6 months) Sr. Project Scientist @ Work in the BD/Tripath/Millennium/ alliance in the discovery, development and validation of diagnostic biomarkers for screening and prognostic uses. Assisted in the design and implementation of functional genomic and proteomic discovery paradigms for biomarkers for solid tumor screening and prognosis. Team lead in technology and assay development for breast cancer assays. My group developed a process for the rapid screening of potential candidates identified by cDNA microarrays in cancer that can then be transferred to a diagnostic product. I also initiated a tumor specimen bank for use in marker discovery and validation. Involved in the design and implementation of microscope-based automated image analysis platform, data handling, storage and web based methods of sharing information. Lead member of team that participated in Phase I clinical trials in partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb. Experience includes hiring and training a group of 8 scientists to start work on new company facility. From May 2000 to May 2004 (4 years 1 month) Research Associate @ Worked on a novel protein involved in centromere function, discovered with bio-informatics and searches of public databases. Found new DNA with characteristics of a centromere. Developed expertise in the areas of cytology, immunofluorescence, histology, antibody production and characterization, bioinformatics, determining protein function, cell transfections, ISH, IHC and chromosome manipulation. Developed novel protocols for Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH) and antibody labeling. From September 1995 to May 2000 (4 years 9 months)
