He is noted for his hands-on approach to assessing candidate competencies and cultural fit, utilizing 18 years of behavioral-based interviewing techniques. The combination of his experiences as an in-house talent acquisition leader and as an executive search partner has provided Steve with a unique view into all aspects of recruiting top caliber executives.
Previously, Steve was a talent acquisition leader with PIMCO, a global investment management firm based in Newport Beach, California. During his tenure at PIMCO, he led executive recruiting efforts for the risk, compliance, legal, finance, marketing, human resources, funds, and operations departments in addition to portfolio management.
Steve previously served as Head of Talent Acquisition for Wachovia Securities, a 20,000 person division of Wachovia Corporation, where he led a team of 50 professionals. Steve was also a member of the firm’s Leadership Board, which was responsible for all functional elements of the firm.
Earlier in his career, Steve co-founded a boutique retained executive search firm. He also served as Associate Director in the Silicon Valley office of Heidrick & Struggles, where he focused on venture capital and private equity-backed clients.
Steve has played an active role in dog rescue programs within his community for 10 years. He also provides career counseling to military veterans to assist in their transition from military service to the private sector.

From 2007 to 2008 (1 year) Director, Talent Acquisition @ Created and managed a 35 person professional talent acquisition team for this $2.5 Billion, publicly traded firm. Additionally had responsibility for executive level searches in several functions. New Century went bankrupt in 2007 and closed. From 2006 to 2007 (1 year) Vice President, Talent Acquisition @ Built and managed a professional talent acquisition team of 40+ professionals and led the recruiting efforts for the Prudential/Wachovia merger integration. Appointed to leadership advisory board for this 20,000 person group of Wachovia Corporation. During the Prudential integration met with Wachovia Securities CEO and Operating Committee on weekly basis to give updates on recruiting progress. Given award by Wachovia Corporate HR for building credibility with Wachovia Securities Operating Committee in the recruiting function. From 2003 to 2006 (3 years) Manager of Talent Acquisition @ Led operations and sales recruiting team for Apple, Inc. after closing Human Capital Group (retained technology executive search firm). From 2000 to 2003 (3 years) Associate Director @ Lead engagements with Fortune 500 firms and venture capital backed firms in the U.S. Interfaced directly with CEOs, Board members, Partners in Private Equity firms and other senior executives during the course of search engagements.
