From May 2012 to September 2012 (5 months) Napa, CAAssistant Actuarial Analyst @ • Conduct state rate reviews by developing and trending losses and frequency, combining to obtain pure premium estimates, and matching expected losses to net premiums to build rate indications. Produce exhibits and write-ups of results presented to senior underwriting managers and regulatory compliance at pricing committees. • Wrote a set of programs in R to fit nationwide indemnity loss data to 2-parameter and 3-parameter heavy tailed distribution models (Lognormal, Pareto, Burr). Developed increased limit factors using fitted parameters to estimate losses in excess layers. • Perform nationwide rate adequacy analyses on nearly $500M of direct written premium, developing loss ratios for each specialty class and delivering reports summarizing performance across business nationally. • Analyzed the loss severity of multiple claim incidents. Results are used to revamp raw claim counts to reflect the difference between multiple claims and single claim incidents in state rate reviews.
