I am a Immunologist having extensive experience of working in chronic inflammatory disorder and autoimmunity. At Lund University, Sweden and Copenhagen university, Denmark I was involved in understanding molecular and cellular mechanism involved in multiple sclerosis (MS) & type 1 diabetes (T1D), mainly working on C57BL/6 EAE model and NOD mouse model which also involved understanding the role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) in EAE and type 1 diabetes (T1D) development using pDC conditional knock out mouse model. Using the novel 3D imaging-Optical Projection Tomography I am imaging the kinetics of neuroinflammation and insulitis in mouse models of MS and T1D.
Extensive experience (more than 10 years) in pre-clinical drug discovery & Immunology research. Have worked in different labs in Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and India. Diverse multi-disciplinary scientific and technical experience, from industry and academia research involving inflammatory settings. I can work efficiently and independently with a goal-oriented and flexible mindset. I am always able to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues as members of a multidisciplinary project team.
I did my Phd with Prof. Olaf Roetzschke and Prof. Kirsten Falk, at Max Delbrueck Centre for Molecular Medicine, Germany. During my PhD I was extensively involved in developing immune response enhancers (small molecules, peptides & herbal extracts) targetting human MHC class II molecules (mainly HLA-DR alleles) finding application in immunotherapy. In parallel I worked in identifying mechanisms involved in celiac disease. My PhD was funded by prestigious Marie Curie fellowship under EU grant. Using biochemical and immunological methods I contributed to understand the conformation transitions of MHC class II (human HLA-DR) molecule.
During my stay at Pharmaceutical Industry R&D Ranbaxy, I was a part of drug discovery team developing novel drugs for Rheumatoid Arthritis.
