I have solid Statistical / Data Science skills developed over the last 13+ years of work in academic and industrial research sectors. My colleagues have always been impressed with my expertise in modern data analysis and manipulation tools, ability to clearly explain technical concepts to a layman, high attention to detail, friendliness and professional manner.
Key Skills:
- Data Analysis and Manipulation Software: I am an advanced user of the statistical programming language R. Examples of additional tools and technologies I use for data retrieval, analysis, reporting, code development and deployment include SQL Server, RStudio, Shiny, GitHub and LaTeX.
- Modelling Techniques: I am versed in a wide range of modern statistical and machine learning methods, such as various regression techniques (e.g., multiple linear regression, logistic regression, lasso, mixed-effects models), Principle Components Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Classification and Regression Trees, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting Machines, Support Vector Machines.
- Writing and Reporting: As demonstrated by a long list of my professional publications, I have excellent writing and reporting skills.
- Presenting: during my career, I have given well-received talks at numerous professional meetings, lectures, and public events.
- Mentoring: I have over 4 years of teaching experience in a university, and have been mentoring junior colleagues in all of my other roles.

Data Scientist @ Millicom is an international mobile operator present in Africa and Latin America under the brand name “Tigo”. In my current role, I work as Data Scientist in the Africa regional commercial team. In close collaboration with stakeholders from multiple functional units (Customer Understanding, Marketing, Pricing, Factory, etc.), I am helping to develop data-driven business solutions across all 6 African operations (e.g. predictive churn models, customer segmentation methodologies, A/B testing, etc.). In addition, I am providing regular in-house statistical and R programming trainings to Statisticians, Data Scientists and BI Analysts in local operations. From August 2014 to Present (1 year 3 months) London, United KingdomStatistical Modeller @ BASF is the largest chemical company in the world. Working as a Statistical Modeller in their Division of Agricultural Products, I provided in-house statistical consulting and conducted diverse data analyses and simulations related to the assessment of environmental risks posed by agrochemicals, such as pesticides. I also developed and deployed a number of tailored web-based analytical applications (e.g., for dose-response modelling) to facilitate the analysis and report generation in laboratory studies. The nature of this position implied a close collaboration with different R&D units, as well as regular reporting to upper management and national regulating authorities across the globe. From April 2012 to July 2014 (2 years 4 months) Limburgerhof, GermanyData Analyst @ This was a contracting role with the RNT Consulting (www.rntconsulting.net), a privately owned company from Ontario, Canada that helps industries cope with damage caused by aquatic nuisance species. I was helping RNT to design experimental studies, analyse data, and prepare reports for clients. Examples of the clients I worked for are the California Department of Water Resources and the Central Arizona Water Conservation District. From 2010 to July 2014 (4 years) Picton, Ontario, CanadaPostdoctoral Researcher @ DKFZ is one of the leading cancer research centers in the world. Working there as a postdoctoral researcher, I was analysing large multivariate datasets from genome-wide cancer-related studies in order to identify differentially expressed genes and biomarkers indicative of the disease progression. Results of this work were presented at a number of professional meetings and published in 4 co-authored papers in high-impact scientific journals, including a publication in Nature (the most prestigious academic journal). From June 2010 to May 2012 (2 years) Heidelberg, GermanyResearch Scientist @ In this role, I was involved in a number of research projects related to the environmental issues of the Great Lakes region. My major responsibilities included design and implementation of field and lab studies, followed by analysis of the obtained multivariate datasets. Results were presented at several professional meetings and published in multiple papers in internationally recognised journals. From August 2008 to November 2009 (1 year 4 months) Buffalo, New YorkAssistant Professor @ In this academic role I was lecturing a number of courses to Biology students, including Introductory Statistics and Ecological Modelling. I was also actively conducting my own research work related to environmental issues (in a group of 4 researchers, under my leadership). Results were published in multiple scientific papers and presented at numerous professional meetings. From September 2004 to June 2008 (3 years 10 months) Minsk, Belarus
