Research Software Engineer @ - Develop virtual environments where users interact with virtual characters in real-time, and navigate within photo-realistic virtual environments.
- Develop a Stereoscopic interactive system of Anatomy which enables users to virtually dissect, navigate and observe the human body structures from any angle in real-time. The system provides several interesting features, such as, sharing the same navigation experience among teachers and students, on-line quiz, video play for each part of the human body, etc.
- Developed Wirks (WorldViz Immersive Reality with Kinect and Sony) which enables users to design and build their own Kinect applications for everything from scientific research to entertainment & architectural exploration using Vizard’s straightforward development environment. From October 2010 to Present (5 years 1 month) USAGuest Researcher @ - Investigate in-situ image-based 3D modeling and interaction methods for mobile augmented reality From February 2010 to February 2012 (2 years 1 month) KoreaResearch Fellow @ - Based on the concept of ‘Anywhere Augmentation: Mobile AR in any situation and location’, estimated an accurate camera pose in real-time through sensor fusion of a camera, an inertial sensor and GPS. Generated a 3D building model using aerial photographs and video images, and used an Unscented Kalman Filter for pose estimation.
- Acquired surround-view panoramas using a single handheld or head-worn camera using real-time camera orientation tracking. Presented methodology for camera orientation relocalization using ‘virtual keyframes’ for online envi-ronment map construction when tracking fails. From October 2006 to September 2010 (4 years) USAConsultant @ - Analyzed image feature descriptors, Log-polar Gabor Jet Descriptor and Fourier Descriptor for a fully automatic image mosaicking of arbitrary number of images, and developed an experimental testbed for evaluation.
- Designed and developed a user interface of the AIPR (Advanced Image Pair Registration) software. From February 2008 to June 2009 (1 year 5 months) USAPost-Doctoral Researcher @ - Investigated registration and interaction methods for Mobile Augmented Reality System (MARS) based on the concept ‘Anywhere Augmentation’ From March 2006 to September 2006 (7 months) Korea
