Worked closely with the Product Management and Visual Design groups to complete design of the user-interface for each application. Hired and lead the engineering team responsible for implementation. Designed application architecture and implemented components in all layers of the applications. Design and implemented back-end data-processing and data-generation components using Python and C. Mentored junior iOS engineers. Worked with remote QA team to implement quality-control procedures. Consulted with Android engineering team to bring Catalogue features and new APIs to TheFind's Android applications. From July 2011 to March 2015 (3 years 9 months) Tech Lead for iOS Applications @ Spear-headed TheFind's entry into mobile applications by developing the company's initial iPhone applications: "Shop Nearby" and "Beat This Price" using Xcode and Objective-C. Created Mac-based development environment, source control, and release procedures. Worked with product managers to define application functionality and user-interface. Implemented applications end-to-end including networking, XML data parsing, and user-interface code. Merged local- and web-based shopping functionality into a single all-in-one application called "Shopping by TheFind". Collaborated with back-end team to define new APIs necessary to bring the project to fruition. Integrated barcode scanning technology licensed from RedLaser/eBay. Worked with partner ShopRunner to implement "ShopRunner Mobile". From July 2008 to July 2011 (3 years 1 month) Senior Software Engineer @ Principal engineer on TheFind's distributed web crawler. This multi-threaded Java program is currently deployed on dozens of machines and crawls billions of web pages from hundreds of thousands of sites. Implemented the initial version of structured data-feed (XML, RSS, text) handling in Java. Implemented an Apache 2.0 module in C to handle on-the-fly image resizing and caching. This system current handles in excess of 20M requests/day. From March 2005 to July 2008 (3 years 5 months) Staff Engineer @ Key engineer/architect for Interwoven's Java-based ContentCenter web application, the primary interface to the company's flagship TeamSite product-line. Technical lead for all Workflow-related features in both ContentCenter Standard and ContentCenter Professional. Architect/technical lead for an XML- and Struts-based datacapture framework designed to unify and extend three competing internal projects (FormsPublisher, Workflow, metadata capture). From October 2001 to March 2005 (3 years 6 months) Software Engineer @ Primary architect for iHarvest's second-generation web-clipping service. Replaced C-like API and XSLT transformation engine with object-oriented architecture based on Java Servlets and Java Server Pages. Reduced application memory requirements ten-fold, improved scalability, and made it possible to easily integrate with third-party data stores. Ease of integration was one of the primary selling points when the company was acquired by Interwoven. From July 2000 to October 2001 (1 year 4 months) Staff Engineer @ Architect for dynamic and static web-page serving for the LiveExchange 3.0 e-Commerce auction server. Technical Lead for the team which implemented this architecture using Java Servlets and Java Server Pages. Worked on server scalability and performance plan (clustering, load balancing, etc). Evaluated middleware products from Tibco and Talarian.
