The time I had in China was devoted to furthering the shared research topics that both my colleagues at Tsinghua University and I share. Our goal was to refine the algorithm used in Item-Based Collaborative Filtering, which would improve recommender system accuracy. At the end of my nine weeks in China we determined that the metadata model needed to be extended to significantly improve accuracy, to that end we have continued to work together. The experience of working internationally for an extended period definitely broadened my horizons. When I was not working, I took the opportunity to experience China, the culture, history and people.
