Specialties
ArtusLabs was formed by the same team that pioneered the Enterprise Electronic Lab Notebook marketplace. The company had expertise in managing, mining, and processing complex unstructured data and information generated from research activities. From April 2007 to March 2011 (4 years) VP Product Strategy @ Symyx offered high-speed combinatorial technologies for the discovery of new materials. Using proprietary technologies - including instruments, software and methods - Symyx was able to generate hundreds to thousands of unique materials at a time and screen those materials rapidly and automatically for desired properties. This approach can deliver results hundreds to thousands of times faster than traditional research methods, at a fraction of the cost.
Symyx applied this technology to revolutionize materials discovery in the life sciences, chemical, and electronics industries.
Symyx purchased Synthematix in 2005 and I was moved to CA to join the management team as the VP of Product Management then Product Strategy. From March 2005 to March 2007 (2 years 1 month) CEO and Founder @ Synthematix was the pioneer of electronic laboratory notebooks for scientists. I was the founder and CEO of Synthematix and helped to build the team and technology for this emerging new market. ELN's are now a common foundational technology for any scientific discovery practice.
Synthematix revolutionized how scientists capture, plan and make decisions about their research. We invented the Electronic Laboratory Notebook and the founding team holds a patent on the first implementations of this technology. The most rewarding thing when reflecting on Synthematix is walking the halls of research labs and seeing the core technology we created being used by scientists around the globe to solve incredibly hard research problems.
Synthematix was acquired by Symyx, Inc. in 2005. From January 2000 to April 2005 (5 years 4 months) President & CEO @ RYSCOR Science was a small specialty synthetic chemistry company that specialized in very hard to create novel molecules. I founded the company and bootstrapped the business to profitability within two years.

LORD has provided innovative solutions to demanding aerospace, defense, automotive and industrial customer problems for nearly 90 years. From 1994 to 1996 (2 years) Synthetic Chemist @ Boron Biologicals developed diagnostic and therapeutic compounds derived by substituting boron for carbon or oxygen in known biomolecules. Boron Biologicals was a pioneer in BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy) for malignant brain tumors (gliomas). From February 1993 to December 1994 (1 year 11 months) Durham North CarolinaChemist @ From June 1992 to February 1993 (9 months) Research Triangle Park, NC
