I am the Events Fundraiser for a hospice charity in Kent. With an annual running cost of over £14 million, I work with the rest of the fundraising team across three sites to maximise voluntary income, develop our supporter base (both in quantity and their relationship with the charity) and increase the charity’s brand awareness in the community we serve. With my role focusing on fundraising events organised by the charity, I work with my colleagues to develop new and existing events within our calendar that are engaging to our supporter base and maximise the income generated per supporter. I have strong IT and communication skills, both written and oral, which help me to develop relationships with supporters, volunteers and corporate partners to achieve financial success for the organisation. I am proficient in the use of database software packages “The Raiser’s Edge” and "Donorflex" as well as design software such as Adobe Illustrator. An idea of the range of fundraising events I have been involved with so far in my career include: black tie evenings, concerts, mass participation events such as walks and cycles, peer-to-peer initiatives such as coffee morning campaigns, overseas trek and cycle challenges, secret art auctions and many more besides. As an aside to my regular duties, you will often find my working closely with our supporter services team to assist and improve processes surrounding our fundraising database. With benefits from the bottom to the top of the organisation. To obtain an idea of the type of motivated individual that I am, you need look no further than this. In 2014 I broke the world record for cycling across Europe (North to South) completely solo and unsupported; beating the existing record by nearly 5 hours. This project, whilst undertaken in my own time and period of annual leave, also raised nearly £3000 for two charitable causes and I was also able to engage the support of six corporate sponsors to back the project.
