This included overseeing the implementation and design of the end user order taking applications and the server side synchronization servers. 路The back end of the system consisted of two parts. First, a Windows service written using MFC/C++ that communicated with the PDA via a socket connection using a proprietary protocol. Second, a Web Service written in C# that communicated with a second application on the PDA over an HTTP connection using XML. Both methods ultimately synchronized data from a SQL Server 2000 DB. 路The front end of the order taking system consists of a Palm OS application written in C using Metrowerks Code Warrior and a Windows Pocket PC application written in C# for the .NET compact framework. 路Other duties included working with customers on support and implementation issues, and working with upper management on project research and development. From September 2002 to June 2005 (2 years 10 months) Software Engineer @ 路Added imaging capabilities to the company's flagship PDA database application, thinkDB. This product is now sold as Smart Lists To Go by DataViz, Inc. 路Completed design and implementation of the next generation version of thinkDB for Microsoft Pocket PC devices. From 2000 to 2002 (2 years) Software Engineer @ -Lead an e-commerce project of 8 software engineers. Project was written with ASP pages being served by Microsoft IIS servers using MTS connecting to an Oracle database running on Solaris 2.6. -Lead a two-engineer project to develop a database aggregation tool in Java. Project completed on time and budget. -Designed an implemented a scripting language interpreter for a client鈥檚 diagnostic application. The interpreter was written in C++ using MFC and designed to run under Windows NT 4.0. -Designed and developed a web based application for a Cisco using Netscape Application Server extensions written in Java. The application allowed technicians to modify cable modem profiles. -Lead engineer on a Windows MFC C++ note taking application. From 1997 to 2000 (3 years) Software Engineer @ 路Created a visual tool to edit the phonetic pronunciations of words in a system dictionary. 路Responsible for MAPI enabling the home messaging system product. This included creating an Outlook similar interface and creating a MAPI form for voice messages. 路Designed and created an API for the company鈥檚 voice recognition engine. 路Responsible for voice enabling two outside vender PC based answering machines. Responsible from initial design specifications to traveling on site to oversee the integration. This project succeeded in creating products that shipped with IBM and Hewlett Packard PCs. 路Decided to turn down an offer to transfer to another department in the company when PC group was eliminated.
