As Contracts and Procurement Consultant in a Client facing role responsibilities include;
Part of Project Services team, involved in planning, tendering and awarding EPC agreements, study agreements, and other major contracts for Mine Design/development/operation and capital projects. Develop contracting strategies and plans to assist projects (with scope of work, tendering process, selection of contractor, negotiations and award) as part of the Contracts and Procurement team. Typical extent of role will involve;
•Monitoring and managing owner’s contract and procurement activities and staff for pre-award and post–award activities, including directly tendering, negotiating, awarding and administering major construction contracts and procurement activities for studies and projects
•Monitor EPCM contractor’s commercial programs(i.e. part of team approving contracting activities including bidders list, contract and procurement packaging, contract award and other critical commercial decisions)
•Work with mine operators and maintenance, during the development of studies and projects in preparing works, goods & services and supply and installation contracts.Responsible for transitioning commercial project activities from the project over to operations.
•Ensure that the Tenders are fully compliant with the Client's requirements and where this is not possible, help identify alternatives and obtain management approval for these.
Commercial Officer/ Contracts and Procurement Consultant @ Internal role within DMT as Commercial Officer includes
•Contract and programme management to ensure timeliness/conformance to contract;
•Responsible for ensuring that favourable prices and terms of agreement are obtained from sub-contractors and collaborative partners;
•Maintaining proper control and substantiation of variations between the sub-contractor and Company
•Compile and submit valuations at the minimum intervals permitted under the contract-sub contract, ensuring that these are maximised and that timely payment is received, to the benefit of the Company's cash flow;
•Provide guidance and support during the estimating process on such issues as contract conditions which need bringing to the attention of the Management;
•Review Tenders and Proposals working along with the engineering team and Executive Management prior to submission, highlighting proposal strategy, execution plan, schedule, risks and liabilities;
• Ensuring all agreed actions from any Management reviews are incorporated into the final Proposal Document and make sure that the Proposal document is safely delivered to Clients;
•Ensuring commercial performance of all projects are monitored and reported, and business objectives are achieved;
•Protect company’s commercial position at all times, including evaluation, avoidance and mitigation of any potential commercial risks on projects and for the business in general;
•Formulation and implementation of Contract & Procurement Procedures and policies, input into proposals with respect to project execution including budgets and schedules, man-hour estimates;
•Represent the Company in contract negotiations and meetings, ensuring that favourable terms and outcomes are obtained;
•Monitoring financial control and payment of each sub-contractor, and to ensure that submissions for payments are received, evaluated and incorporated into company’s valuations for submission to Clients. From October 2010 to Present (5 years 1 month) Nottingham, United Kingdom
