From March 2010 to September 2012 (2 years 7 months) Infrastructure Architect @ Ardenta provides high-performance hosting and database support, primarily for the online gaming industry. Clients include Tote, Littlewoods, William Hill and Ladbrokes. My major projects have been:-
- Designed new hosting infrastructure for totesport.com, running on RHEL 5.0 with Apache 2.0 and bespoke Openbet application server. I planned and implemented the migration to the new environment, which meant communicating with the various stakeholders within Tote for the go-live, plus also co-ordinating the upgrade of their test and integration environments.
- Organising and carrying out training sessions for the team to be able to more effectively support the Apache installations once my contract has ended. From September 2009 to March 2010 (7 months) Web Systems Engineer @ Working on web hosting migration project until May 2009. From December 2008 to September 2009 (10 months) Web Systems Engineer @ Infrastructure lead for a migration project for the BBC Worldwide magazines sites (Radio Times, Top Gear, Gardeners World and others) from Siemens to Rackspace Managed Hosting. As the senior Linux administrator in the web systems team my role involved providing infrastructure support to large corporate websites including mcdonalds.co.uk and npower.com.
This position also involved a 3-month stay in Mumbai (Bombay) in 2002, where I helped to train the new NOC (Network Operations Centre) staff to be able to provide 1st line support for our hosting clients. From November 2000 to November 2005 (5 years 1 month)
