I am a highly motivated and results driven penultimate year student in the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology, and the Bachelor of Business in Marketing at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). At UTS I have held multiple roles where I exercised my key skills in teamwork, verbal communication, excellent organisation, and customer service abilities, whilst maintaining a distinction average grade.
I am seeking a degree related internship opportunity to gain more professional experience and take on new challenges where I can further grow.
The synergy of different roles at UTS together with my past experiences has enabled myself to gain a diverse range of new skill sets and experiences. My active involvement in several community causes, volunteer work, and mentoring roles has aided to enhance my leadership skills where I was elected as an Undergraduate Student Representative on the UTS Science Faculty Board (2013-2014).
By engaging in extra-curricular activities such as the EY Career Compass Program, Optus Marketing Research Competition, and Unilever Future Leaders' League I was able to broaden my industry knowledge and build on my analytical skills and core graduate attributes.
Library Rover @ The primary role of a Rover is to provide face to face first level assistance to clients at their point of need throughout the Library.
Some of the major tasks which are involved within this role includes assisting clients locate materials in the library, record statistical activity, inform library staff of client support issues, and provide general IT support. From February 2014 to Present (1 year 11 months) Equity & Diversity Student Ambassador/Promotional Representative (SPROUTS) @ In this role I work with the Equity and Diversity Unit at UTS to promote tertiary education and engage with participants from various outreach programs.
By working with high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds I facilitate small group discussion, and help students to gain the most from follow up workshops and events that are organised by the Equity and Diversity Unit.
Additionally, part of this role I provide assistance in administrative tasks and at UTS events (such as Open Day, U@Uni Day, Experience UTS Day, attend school visits to share my high school and university experiences to increase aspiration for tertiary education). From March 2012 to Present (3 years 10 months) Australia Future Leaders' League - Team Globetrotters @ The Unilever Future Leaders' League is a competition which offers participants the opportunity to develop real business impact on an actual Unilever business challenge. The competition also provides opportunities to engage with business leaders and learn more about Unilever and the FMCG industry.
As a participant in the two day national round our task was to develop a communication strategy for the TRESemmé Naturals range utilising relevant media channels with given resources to raise product awareness, increase market share, and gain new product users.
- Voted by fellow participants as the individual that embodied Unilever's value of "Integrity" From August 2015 to August 2015 (1 month) Business Mentor @ As a Business Mentor in the UTS U@Uni Summer School Program I worked with Year 10-11 students that attend disadvantaged schools located in South Western Sydney.
I mentored students in the area of business and facilitated these students to make decisions in certain activities involved throughout the program. A large component of those activities include groups of students working together to operate a business simulation called The Australian Business Week (ABW).
The Summer School Program aims to increase enthusiasm for HSC study, build interpersonal skills and raise personal aspirations. As high school students work on campus with university staff and students, these students experience the university environment first-hand and build confidence for learning and solving problems in teams. From January 2014 to March 2015 (1 year 3 months) HSC Tutorial Assistant @ As a Tutorial Assistant I assisted and helped improve Year 11 and 12 students' skills and knowledge in HSC Standard English at selected partner schools.
The U@Uni HSC Tutorial Scheme offers free tutoring to Year 11 and 12 students covering several HSC subject areas such as Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History and Business Studies. The program also aims to increase HSC student aspirations for tertiary education. From July 2013 to December 2014 (1 year 6 months) Science Faculty Board Student Representative @ In this role I served as an elected representative on the Science Faculty Board. The Science Faculty Board is the main forum for the discussion and resolution of academic issues and matters. From November 2013 to October 2014 (1 year) EY Career Compass Program @ The EY Career Compass Program is a three day learning experience for students to gain an insight into the professional services industry, particularly an introduction to the various service lines at EY.
This program consists of structured workshops and learning sessions for students to gain an understanding of EY. Additionally, this program aids to develop the skills required for students to grow professionally, and collaborate effectively in a team environment through various teamwork activities. From September 2013 to October 2013 (2 months) Staff Trainer @ Responsible for training and mentoring new staff members, providing high quality customer service, promoting the Yogurberry brand, and maintained general store duties during the grand opening promotional period. From December 2012 to February 2013 (3 months)
