Mr. Derycz is the Founder of various companies on three continents including Infotrieve, Inc. in 1989. As its President, he grew Infotrieve until selling to a group of Private Equity Investors in 2003.
For the past 20 years, he has been actively involved in designing, developing and deploying large library and document management systems that focus on delivering large amounts of information to information users in local and global settings. In the library world, he is known as one of the founders of the “pay-as-you-go” approach to acquiring and delivering scientific information. Thousands of end-users around the world currently receive much of their access to published information through systems, platforms software and services that Peter has deployed through the various companies he founded. He takes pride in delivering services that prove to be invaluable both to his customers and to the scholarly publishing community.
Always on the cutting edge, he has been a senior member and advisor of various private and public companies where he’s held the positions of Chairman, CEO, Director and President. He holds 9 patents in the US, Europe and Australia, received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles, and is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. From January 2006 to Present (10 years) Director @ Peter is an Independent Director and serves on the Audit and Compensation Committees of the Board of Directors of Insignia Systems. Insignia markets in-store advertising products, programs, and services to consumer packaged goods manufacturers and retailers in the United States and internationally. The company focuses on providing in-store services through the Insignia Point-Of-Purchase Services (POPS) in-store advertising program. Its Insignia POPSign program is a national account-specific in-store shelf-edge advertising program, which allows manufacturers to deliver vital product information to consumers at the point-of-purchase together with each retailers store-specific prices. The company directly markets its Insignia POPSign program to food and drug manufacturers and retailers. Insignia Systems, Inc. was founded in 1990. From January 2007 to Present (9 years) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaAdvisor @ Advise the Director and faculty about trends and issues occurring in the information industry in the areas of Library and Information Science and to make suggestions for the continued improvement of the graduate programs at San Jose State University. From January 1990 to September 2003 (13 years 9 months) Information Slave @ Made millions of photocopies, searched bibliographic databases, climbed thousands and thousands of stairs with tall heavy stacks of books while eating M&Ms and sniffing the dust accumulated on old scientific journal volumes at the UCLA Biomedical Library.
