📖 Summary
Vice President of Engineering @ Mu Dynamics, Inc. (acquired by Spirent Communications plc - SPT.L) As Vice President of Engineering, I managed User Experience, Software Engineering, Test Automation, Global 24-by-7 Customer Support, Technical Publications, Training Curriculum, Hardware Contract Manufacturing, Technical Operations and Corporate IT for Mu Dynamics to deliver a product suite for testing both the performance and security of cloud infrastructure and application-aware networks. By Introducing Agile Software and Test-Driven Development methodologies, Mu Dynamics engineering was able to deliver regular monthly software releases for the company's flagship Mu Studio product and daily releases for the Blitz.io cloud-based application performance testing application. By recruiting a dedicated User Experience team to deliver a vastly improved and visually attractive user interface for the company’s products, Mu Dynamics transformed product ease of use into a key differentiator in competitive deals. Finally, I also managed the company’s intellectual property portfolio resulting in eight United States patents awarded and fifteen additional United States patents pending at the time of acquisition by Spirent Communications plc. From December 2007 to May 2012 (4 years 6 months) Sunnyvale, CAVice President of Engineering and Technical Operations @ Visible Path Corporation (acquired by Dun & Bradstreet - DNB) As Vice President of Engineering and Technical Operations, I managed and expanded the software engineering, quality assurance and technical operations organization starting from 10 US-only engineers to 35+ engineers divided between Foster City, CA and Bangalore, India to deliver a highly-scalable re-implementation of Visible Path’s social networking product targeted at individual business users as a Web 2.0 consumer Internet service. From April 2006 to October 2007 (1 year 7 months) Foster City, CA and Bangalore, IndiaVice President Server Technologies @ Oracle Corporation - ORCL As Vice President Server Technologies, I led the product development effort for Oracle WebCenter, the next generation enterprise portal built on Oracle's J2EE-based Fusion Middleware technology stack. From August 2005 to April 2006 (9 months) Redwood Shores, CAVice President of Engineering and Client Services @ FaceTime Communications, Inc. (renamed Actiance, Inc.) As Vice President of Engineering and Client Services, I managed FaceTime Communications’ global product development, professional services, and customer support organizations in Foster City, CA, Huntington, WV, and Bangalore, India for the company's real-time communications management, network security, and anti-spyware products. From October 2004 to August 2005 (11 months) Foster City, CAVice President of Engineering @ Epicentric, Inc. (acquired by Vignette Corporation - VIGN) As Vice President of Engineering at Epicentric, I grew the company’s development team from fewer than 15 to over 120 engineers, by introducing formal software development processes with associated specialist roles and cross-functional teams required to scale the organization efficiently. From December 1999 to December 2002 (3 years 1 month) San Francisco, CAVice President of Software Development and Partner @ Webster Management Group, Inc. Designed and led the development team in building a historical trading simulation platform and live trade generation software for a CFTC registered Commodity Trading Advisor managing over $80 million in the global exchange-traded futures and foreign exchange markets. Designed and Implemented algorithms for calculating the firm's systematic entry and exit signals and allocating firm-wide order quantities across its multiple individual managed accounts. From September 1992 to December 1999 (7 years 4 months) Chicago, ILVice President of Engineering @ Womply As Vice President of Engineering, I scaled Womply’s engineering organization from 15 to over 40 engineers, creating component teams with different technical specialties, and implementing Scrum to measure each team's Velocity. Womply used Big Data analytics to provide business insights in SaaS applications targeted at brick and mortar merchants. Womply partnered with over twenty of the nation’s largest credit card processors, companies that process electronic payments for millions of merchants across the United States. Womply analyzed millions of new merchant transactions each day against hundreds of millions of historical merchant transactions (equivalent to hundreds of billions of dollars in transaction volume). To get a sense of scale, Womply viewed more dollars of economic activity every day than Amazon and eBay combined; this value was at least ten times more than Square. Womply's transaction data was both broad and deep: it originated from nearly every ZIP code in the United States, spanned more than 350 business verticals, and included data on over one hundred million card holders. From March 2015 to July 2016 (1 year 5 months) San Francisco, CASenior Vice President of Engineering @ Coraid Coraid provided storage solutions for cloud service providers and enterprises experiencing rapid, unpredictable data growth. With the simplicity of Layer 2 Ethernet, Coraid's solution elevated network performance and improved operational effectiveness in deploying dynamic, large-scale, multi-workload environments. Its modular, pay-as-you-grow architecture and easy-to-use software solutions were backed by proven support, design, and implementation. Coraid partnered with customers to enable just-in-time scaling and versatility for a fast return on investment. From May 2014 to March 2015 (11 months) Redwood City, CAExecutive Vice President of Engineering @ Marin Software - MRIN In May 2012, I joined Marin Software to scale and prepare the engineering organization for the company's eventual IPO, which took place in March 2013. During my time a Marin, we grew the engineering organization from 35 to over 100 engineers across three primary locations. Marin Software provides the world’s leading online advertising management SaaS platform for advertisers and agencies to manage their paid search, social media, display advertising and mobile campaigns. Marin Software’s platform is designed to meet the workflow, reporting and optimization needs of advertisers as well as agencies, helping them to save time and improve financial performance. From May 2012 to May 2014 (2 years 1 month) San Francisco, CAVice President of Engineering @ Vignette Corporation - VIGN (acquired by OpenText Corporation - OTEX) I joined Vignette through its acquisition in 2002 of the enterprise portal pioneer Epicentric, Inc., where I was also the Vice President of Engineering. As the Vice President of Engineering at Vignette, I managed an organization of 225 full-time employees in the United States and Australia with an additional 80 contractors in India. In this role, I guided functional requirements, product architecture, and engineering activities -- user experience, software development, performance & scalability, technical documentation and quality assurance -- for Vignette's enterprise content management, portal, and collaboration product suites.
