I spent 7 years as an entrepreneur building startups in East Africa. In 2007, shortly after the end of the civil war, I moved to South Sudan and started a medical supplies company that served the Ministry of Health, delivering emergency top up medicines to state hospitals.
In 2011, I ventured into the Kenyan market to built an online and mobile service that connected semi-skilled workers with employers. I also teamed up with like-minded investors to inject seed capital in technology companies that delivered workable solutions for populations at the bottom of the pyramid in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Stories about my work can be found on BBC World Business Report, The Economist, Africa Business Review, CCTV News, Citizen TV Kenya and cited in publications by the World Trade Organization and the Wharton Business School.
