My name's Mohammed Hossain. Born in Bangladesh but grew up in Brooklyn (and still here). Currently looking for a job where my role matters and my impact is visible and the work I get challenges me. Most importantly, I want to learn.
I love creating applications (on the web, desktop, it doesn't matter) that people use. I started in the field of CS when I was in my early teens, picking up C++ (not that great of an idea, when looking back). I programmed miscellaneous things to teach myself (card games, of course). I eventually started programming games during my first two years of university. There I found my love for doing frontend work (via shaders) and also how interest and deep backend programming could be (via extensive game logic). Soon after, I worked at NYU as a programmer analyst, where I was introduced to the wonders of Git, unit tests, n-tier architecture, SVN, and how real codebases look.
Programmer Analyst @ • Developed modules and unit tests for a .NET application to track occupant usages in campuses and buildings, along with designing and creating a front-end for said modules using ASP.NET MVC4, jQuery and Foundation 3 that will be used by more than 500 users
• Designed and implemented an ORM (an object-relational mapper, which maps a database object to code) in a two-man team to satisfy specific business requirements (including bitemporality of data to calculate state of data based on effective date) due to the shortcomings of the previously used Entity Framework; used parameterized SQL queries and dynamic object creation with reflection
• Optimized codebase using Visual Studio profiling tools with a performance increase of up to a magnitude (with the biggest speed up due to the aforementioned ORM project)
• Used VMWare’s vSphere to manage and create virtual machines From July 2012 to June 2013 (1 year) IT Intern @ Maintaining server health, maintaining software licenses/updates, occasionally helping out with data entry, helping out with website coding (PHP), creating spreadsheets/macros, and organizing and sorting information either physically or virtually. From June 2011 to June 2012 (1 year 1 month)
Bachelor of Science (BS), Computer Science @ Polytechnic Institute of NYU From 2009 to 2013 Brooklyn Technical High School From 2005 to 2009 Mohammed Hossain is skilled in: C++, C#, .NET, jQuery, CSS, Software Design, Visual Studio, Databases, ASP.NET
