PhD Student @ Continuous Health Monitoring plays a vital role in high temperature industries such as power and chemical plants by detecting potential defects and damages. New high temperature ultrasonic transducers compatible with this extreme conditions at these industries is of huge demand. Every ultrasonic transducer is a multilayer structure, consisting of an active piezoelectric disc, backing element, and quarter-wave matching layer, acoustically coupled together. Major challenges at high temperatures, are the mechanical and/or chemical failure in the transducer component, and the failure of bonding due to inter-facial stresses. My current PhD project concentrates on modeling and fabricating a new high temperature ultrasonic transducer to address the problems with current transducers at high temperatures.
