City of Rio Rancho Building Division Responsibilities include: The Building Inspection Division is charged with ensuring that all building construction over which the City has jurisdiction conforms to the standards set forth by the Governing Body and the State of New Mexico. This includes the issuance of building permits, the monitoring of construction, the inspection of all appropriate building structures, follow-up on all citizen and Construction Industry Division (C.I.D.) complaints and providing all customers with general construction information. Contractors performing work within the City's limits are required to have a license with the State of New Mexico and an active business license with the City of Rio Rancho. As the incoming CBO for the City of Rio Rancho I currently hold 35 International Code Council certifications, including the highest certification of Master Code Professional and Certified Building Official. In addition, I tested for and passed the NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) examination. I am a Licensed Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector in the State of MD, is a Qualified Electrical Inspector in the State of Delaware, and holds 14 PA Certifications (licenses) as an Inspector and Plan Reviewer. I specialize in all aspects of construction, including plan review, inspections, and consulting for multiple disciplines, i.e. building, electric, fire, plumbing, gas, mechanical, etc. Additionally, I provide training in all aspects of the construction fields, including for license renewals.ICC-ES Board of Managers @ The Board of Managers advises ICC-ES on business matters. Additionally, the CBO; •Act as the City of Rio Rancho Certified Building Official in accordance with the requirements of the Construction Industries Licensing Act. •Interprets codes and implements administrative policies and procedures to clarify the applications of its provisions. •Coordinate staff to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes and ordinances pertaining to the construction, alteration or maintenance of buildings. •Oversee the receipt of applications, review of construction documents and issuance of permits for the erection, and alteration, demolition and moving of buildings and structures, as well as the inspection of the premises for which such permits have been issued. •Responsible for daily work assignments and evaluates work performance and completion of continuing education requirements of subordinates. •Responsible for public contact activities and assist agencies and boards as required. •Provide technical information, correspondence, records and reports as required by the Development Services Director. •Prepare and recommend the Division’s budget and authorize expenditures consistent with the budget. •Review pertinent statutes, codes and ordinances for application to inspection practices and procedures. •Enforce City, Departmental and Divisional policies.
