Good public relations support is the key to success.
Tidbit on how the company got its name: My son came up with it at six years old and my dad was the PR Officer for his regiment (311th Infantry/78th Division) First Lt in the Army during WWII. So, I honor them both by naming the firm, McFadden & McFadden. This year's playwright is Alison Tatlock - "Untitled IV by Ruth Markofsky" is set for preview performances Feb. 27 through March 8, 2014 @ the Hatlen Theater on campus. From September 2012 to Present (3 years 4 months) Santa Barbara, California AreaPR Consultant @ Consulting press agent to the only professional contemporary dance company in Santa Barbara in residence at UCSB's Dance Department. Worked with company director, Jerry Pearson ('93 - '06). Skipped a couple of years when the company went overseas touring (06-09). Lept in again for the 20th anniversary show Jan 2011 and happy to be working with the new team headed up by Christopher Pilafian.

From January 1993 to Present (23 years) PR Consultant @ Founded in 2004, the Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation has provided support, education, advocacy and financial assistance to veterans and active duty service personnel who live or serve in the tri-counties. It also produces and collaborates on various events throughout the year. From May 2012 to October 2015 (3 years 6 months) PR Consultant @ Generate press and community awareness for the group of artists (200+ members) who paint landscapes in danger of disappearing due to development. 40% of the income from all art sold at the group shows goes to a designated environmental or conservation non-profit.
Since 2000 when SCAPE was started, they have donated more than $135,000 to many non-profits in the SB area.

His newest project is a book of portraits of artists of SB county - titled "Between Seer and Seen" and due for release in September, the book will feature more than 100 portraits of artist selected by Halper for the book. We have partnered up with the Arts Fund of SB as the non-profit that will get a portin of the proceeds fromt eh sale of the books. then in February 2014, Halper will have a gallery show @ SB Tennis Club, curated by Susan Tibbles. SBCC provides children of the community with the opportunity for musical training and performing in a fun and challenging environment. Founded in 1993, SBCC will be here for years to come to serve your children. With the continuing decline in funding for school-based music programs, especially in the elementary and secondary school levels, SBCC is dedicated to filling a vital gap in bringing the benefits of music and vocal performance to children.
New in 2013 was the formation of the All School's Chorus and the Concert Chorus' end of year recital in June at the Unitarian Society. Nothing more angelic than the sound of children's voices in harmony. From February 2012 to June 2013 (1 year 5 months) Political Campaign Manager @ Only Ed Easton could get me to work in politics ~ As an educated, passionate and fun person who shared the same values as I do. He won the Goleta City Council seat handily. Very labor intensive post with details, details and more details…and then there's the anonymous posters online who can be kind and cruel. The latter were no fun at all. I think I'll stay with my arts & non-profits and leave politics to other PR firms. From June 2012 to August 2012 (3 months) PR Consultant @ Oreana Winery's owner Christian Garvin brought me on board to get more action on a wine he made in honor of his Italian Grandmother - called Tilly. 10% of all income for the sale of Tilly went to the Central Coast Alzheimer's Assn. She died of Alzheimer's and it was my job to connect the winery to the local Alzheimer's chapter and get press around this. Also hyped all of the events and wines Oreana has to offer. Results were successful. From September 2011 to February 2012 (6 months) Santa Barbara, California AreaWest Coast Press & Marketing Consultant for Annual Autism Conference @ I set up press stories to advance the conference, scout venues, interface with potential guest speakers, get press to cover the conference (TV, print, web) as well as hire photographer(s). Serve as the representative for Eden at other autism events occuring in SoCal with Autsim Speaks and ASA. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a growing concern and more information about the effects of ASD for all ages is highly sought after & needed information. Eden is an acknowledged leader in the field of autism and has brought it's experts to CA to help guide families, health professionals, employers and educators through the advances in health, behavior and learning systems that are proven since 2009. The curriculum is comprehensive offering a wide range of subjects addressing various ability levels. Our Members represent diverse ethnic backgrounds and range in age from 1 to 85. Diagnoses range from mild to profound cognitive disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Alzheimer's, Autism, mobility/hearing/vision impairments and Traumatic Brain Injury.
The methodology is based in perceptual motor match, visual, tactile, and auditory combined with speech. We can see, feel and hear the lessons and simultaneously speak the answers.
The program is facilitated in no less than 10 countries. Sites include Special Education Schools, Organizations and Foundations who serve people of all ages with various disabilities as well as preschools where both "typical" and Intellectually Disabled children attend.
We provide a Train the Trainer program where we teach Therapists, Teachers, Para- Professionals and others in the TRAP methodologies. Classes are taught with no more than 10 children and the instruction time will range from 30 to 45 minutes as a rule. The tools employed by TRAP include instructional manuals, related literature, DVD's, visual aids and a variety of percussion instruments.
TRAP’s primary objective is to promote the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their typical peers in all aspects of everyday life.

Came up with several events to get more patrons with things like the "Pretty Woman Contest" - women wore their best dresses and big hats as an homage to the film of the same name (if you recall there's a great polo scene in that movie); Tailgating Contest, where members and the public competed for the most playful, most thematic, and most luxurious picnic to watch a polo game; evening screenings of films about horses; did reports on every game and sent out results to all polo press outlets as well as local sports editors to create the buzz; created a press event with "golf cart polo" as something unique to do @ the SB polo & Racquet Club; interfaced with all the social scene reporters for big events like the Pacific Coast Open which is a four-week series every August bringing in the biggest and best names in polo. From 2003 to 2006 (3 years) Local Press/ Filmmaker Press @ SBIFF hired me in 1999 to be the point woman for all the local press to get interviews, etc w/ the independent filmmakers; local press also used me to get in touch with the larger name stars, writers, directors via the LA firm who did PR; established the Press Office and all materials needed to make it a working office for two weeks in a hotel lobby; oversaw more than 50 volunteers for the "Press Office"; my assistant set the volunteers shifts at the office to recognize the press covering the festival w/ credentials; we also had a library of films on DVD for press to see on their own time; volunteers were also at the individual screenings and events for "Press Check-ins"; set schedules for the volunteer photographer team to cover the myriad events. From 1999 to 2006 (7 years) PR Consultant @ From 1995 to 2003 (8 years) Director of Operations, MITIC @ Worked in the position with Rex Weiner, of MediaTek PR for three Festivals and I would go back for more! What an incredible experience to have in my resume. Arrived about 4 days before the festival opened and had to have stories ready to send out on day 1. MITIC was the high technology pavilion and it had Sony, well know Post Production co's in Europe, Panavision cameras, theatre seating, and the Alpi Del Mar Film Commission which covered the Italian Riviera locations. From 1999 to 2001 (2 years) Cannes Area, FranceCommunications Director @ Oversaw all key elements for press on the venerable theatre's Seismic Renovation Capital Campaign as well as media contact for all performances produced by LTF. Lots of community outreach to bring underprivledged to see shows as well as giving tickets to human services organization volunteers & staff along with teachers as a respite to their daily lives.
Photographed the construction; got stories in all local major newspapers, radio & TV outlets. Garnered many covers of the entertainment tabloid put out by weekly daily - too many to list here. Interviewed local as well as touring artists. It was hard time in the prep work, but it was a blast on the air. Got stories in the main trade papers - Hollywood Reporter & Daily Variety, along with Screen Int'l, and others. From February 1986 to October 1986 (9 months) Staff Writer @ As a member of the editorial staff I was the first writer to do the daily column People on the Move which charted people getting hired, promoted and recognized, also did the Artists, Agents & Managers, Births & Deaths, The Week in Review for the Int'l edition on Tuesday - which was a round up of the big stories of the week; covered some educational seminars; Dance Reviews; proof reader and placed photos or illustrations on the various columns including Robert Osborne's "Rambling Reporter," Hank Grant, Sports, TV and Music.
