I am currently learning the ropes of DevOps working for Equal Experts while supporting a Linux Ubuntu-based Web platform for HMRC Digital, hosted on private cloud.Linux System Administrator and Devops @ I am currently placed in the WebOps team at HMRC, supporting their Ubuntu-based infrastructure and looking for ways to increase automation through Puppet, Jenkins and Ansible. The environment uses Docker images on Ubuntu 14.04 and Nginx/HAProxy to load-balance microservice web traffic. It is all hosted on private cloud using VMWare and OpenStack. We monitor the environment using Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana and graphite/grafana. The Sensu framework is used to check our metrics and run client monitoring checks. MongoDB Replica Sets provide NoSQL backend storage which is highly available. Other technologies supported: Buildpacks, OpenLDAP, Squid 3 for caching and AV, GPG encryption. Custom web services in Python, Ruby. From June 2015 to Present (7 months) London, United KingdomInfrastructure Engineer (Tools) @ I support and managed TfL's UNIX and network monitoring using EMC IONIX (SMARTS) 9, Watch4net 6 and SCOM 2012, doing improvements and improving our Monitoring and Automation capabilities within TfL. Our IONIX implementation, which monitored over 4,000 hosts for performance and availability (and other customised monitoring based on requirements), was significantly bespoked in Perl and ASL, and was platformed on RHEL 5 and Windows 2008.
