From January 2013 to Present (3 years) Director of Information Technology @ Transferred to Abu Dhabi as part of the restructing in Dubai, as head of the IT department to open the first 5 start property for Jumeirah in the capital. Managed and installed all aspects of the project inlcuding hiring of the IT team. Following were inlcuded as part of the opening of the prestigious project:
- Preopening budgets
- Designing and tendering the data,voice and video networks
- Implementing and training for all applications,OS From February 2011 to December 2012 (1 year 11 months) Regional Director of IT - Gulf @ •In charge of IT in the SBU’s including Jumeirah Restaurants, The Emirates Academy and Jumeirah Living.
•In charge of restructuring the SBU’s to optimize support and save costs
•Key initiator in cost saving across the SBU’s during the recession period.
••Opened Jumeirah Meydan for the group in terms of IT operations
•Supported the roll out of the following:
-Wireless setup across all SBU’s
-Network upgrade at Madinat Jumeirah
-PABX upgrade at Burj Al Arab
-IMM upgrade at Burj Al Arab
-Managed the roll out of the mock up rooms as per Jumeirah brand standards.
•In charge of the renovation projects (IT Systems) at flagship hotels in Jumeirah i.e. Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Jumeirah Emirates Tower. The project includes replacement of the PABX, Active and Passive Infrastructure and all in room technologies including iTV, IP Telephony, wireless, etc.
•Job responsibilities include:
Reporting on regional IT status and progress to the Regional Executive Team and to Group IT, Liaising with corporate, group and regional business functions on current and new developments in the business and in IT,IT Management of take-overs or new developments in the region, Implementing IT strategy and vision as laid out by the Chief Technology Officer, Leading communication efforts amongst SBU IT Directors and Managers within the region, Hire and develop a qualified team of SBU IT heads. Planning of training, development and succession for the IT community within the region
Monitoring the quality and performance of SBU IT departments in the region, using standardized KPIs, KPOs and budgets. Contribute to the strategic planning of IT for the Jumeirah group
Support expansion within the region. Providing of management guidelines to SBU IT departments in the region for CAPEX and OPEX budgeting, Ensure guidelines for standard audit practices in the region
Monitor performance against budgets and act to ensure budget compliance in the regional SBU’s From April 2007 to February 2011 (3 years 11 months) Director of IT @ Transferred to the new project by the Jumeirah Management and was involved in this project for the Jumeirah Group from the time of conception. Resort consists of 3 hotels with 874 rooms, nearly 44 outlets Souk with nearly a hundred shops, a Multi Purpose Venue with 20 meeting rooms, indoor arena to seat 4000 people and a Health Spa. Advised the consultants on behalf of the Group on standards. The network is largest in UAE with nearly 220 switches, and is designed for complete redundancy. The resort runs the largest setup for the Property Management System and the Point of Sale. The point of sale setup is the largest in the world for any hotel. All hardware in the server room has been designed to ensure maximum uptime. The resort telephone which included two call centres was also part of the initial design. All hardware, application and in room technology were setup along with the vendors and a core technical team which was headed by me. The successful opening of the resort in 3 phases has been the highlight of my career. Worked on the design and the specs for the 4th phase which would include 400 rooms and 8 restaurants, the major requirement for the 4th phase would be enhanced technology in the room to include VoIP phones and the latest interactive system. A team of 20 colleagues to manage the 2000 users and nearly 900 PC’s has been personally selected with the help of 2 Assistant Managers. A 24 x 7 helpdesk has also been implemented on the hotel site which supports guests and the back office users. During last year tendered the interactive system to bring in an advanced system based on IP. Future projects include the upgrade of the network to POE switches and wireless infrastructure for phone, TV and Internet. From April 2003 to March 2007 (4 years) Director of IT @ Served the most prestigious property in Middle East. The hotel was opened to bring Dubai on the map of the world and was meant to be a landmark.
Played a pivotal role in establishing the facility (IT infrastructure).
Worked on creating traditional applications (PMS & POS) and built most advanced guest entertainment system, including interactive system which was integrated with the most advanced door locking system, the Avaya ePABX (controlling door camera & curtains).
Every room was equipped with a wireless laptop and fax machine cum printer.
The infrastructure was based on latest technology available in the market.
The interactive system was tested with high emphasis to ensure that the guest features are user friendly. Financial negotiations were completed to reduce maintenance cost.
Recruited a team of 10 personnel to run the day to day trouble shooting and assist the guests.
Implemented all IT Policies in BAA along with the team and vendors.
Designed & implemented Security setups for Guest and Admin VLAN’s for Burj Al Arab.
Wireless network for in suite Laptops.
Worked with Avaya to install the Network, the ATM link
Worked with Corporate office to reduce the value multi million maintenance contracts and to set standards for Information & Technology for Jumeirah International. DMZ project for the corporate office.
Liaised with local and international vendors to improve on the Turnkey project viz applications and network infrastructure. Helped in enhancing the features and the system to improve on security and bring more satisfaction to end-users.
The vendors included Hogatex, Infogenesis, Ncube, Avaya,RSVIP, and Adaco etc.
Helped Corporate with the specifications of Cross Property charging with Fidelio Micros.
Managed the entire change over project from Hogatex to Fidelio and Scala with a minimum of downtime. From September 1999 to March 2003 (3 years 7 months) IT Manager @ Designed the data and voice cabling structure for the property and was involved in the selection of the vendor and implementation of the design. Designed the hardware architecture as per standards given by Kempisnki. Prepared the budget for hardware and software and was involved with the selection of the vendors along with the owning company. All applications and OS installed as per standards of the company. From February 1998 to August 1999 (1 year 7 months) Asst. Manager - Systems @ Bhatia Brothers Hotels Division as Assistant Manager Systems: Responsible for the entire computerization of the Hotels Division which included Quality Inn Horizon - Dubai, Ajman Beach Hotel – Ajman and Regency Hotel Pune (India). This included take over of properties.Was part of the owning team for Ajman Kempinski Hotel and managed the specifications of the IT systems with the contactors and Kempinski who were hired as the management company From January 1996 to February 1998 (2 years 2 months) Systems Executive @ Designed, tendered and installed the IT infrastructure structure for the 5 star resorts. Acted as consultant to the Engineering department, for the installation of the telephone cabling in the resort. Was responsible for the complete installation of Hardware and Software in the property From February 1995 to January 1996 (1 year) Systems Assistant @ Now know as the Trident Hotel Agra.
Worked with the corporate IT Team and installed the hardware and software for the property. Trained to understand the computing aspects in the hotel industry, which included on job training of the Front Office, F & B, and Finance etc. Worked with all departments to understand the finer aspects of computing. From December 1993 to February 1995 (1 year 3 months)
