I'm fortunate to be part of the Human Capital & Workforce Analytics team in SHRM Research, where I am exposed to all aspects of benchmarking services and customized research projects. Working with a manager and two experienced researchers, my responsibilities include:
*Collect and analyze data on more than 600 HR metrics including annual employee turnover rate, cost-per-hire, job satisfaction, and health care and retirement costs from database of over 10,000 organizations
*Achieve monthly sales goals; consult with clients about their HR benchmarking needs; develop and sell customized benchmarking reports based on client’s industry, staff size, and revenue
*Initiate the establishment of Tableau, a business intelligence tool, in data visualization and interactive user interface for SHRM’s benchmarking service – consulting with Tableau representatives, developing implementation timeline with executives, developing data structures, analytic frameworks, exploring launching data online, and generating reports on dashboard
*Manage and monitor the customer-order database with Access for benchmarking service
*Analyze data with SPSS, interpret data and present deliverables with PowerPoint and Publisher on the following survey topics: Diversity Incluation, Employment Verification, and Resume Poll From January 2014 to July 2014 (7 months) Alexandria, VAResearch Assistant @ As a graduate student at George Mason University, I have been actively involved in a few research projects in both the Organizational Psychology Lab and the School of Management.
Brief descriptions of each project:
*Meta-analyzed the effects of racism, sexism, and ageism on multiple workplace outcomes – exhaustive literature search on stereotypes at workplace, code articles into target predictors and outcomes, prepare manuscript for journal submission
*Examine and validate reasons of organizational commitment of registered nurses with Dr. Tetrick (student lead) - coded more than 200 qualitative responses, conducted content-analysis, prepared for symposium presentation

*Assist in lab study examining niceness norms and interpersonal harming in a group-setting – designed experiment and collected data From August 2012 to July 2014 (2 years) Fairfax, VAConsulting Intern @ C&D Management Consulting is a local HRM consulting firm in Shanghai, specialized in leadership development, assessment center and organization development consulting.
During my summer internship at C&D, I worked under the Managing Director Carl Liang. I was heavily involved in their safety validation study in data analysis, conducting executive report for presentation and marketing purposes.
Other responsibilities include:
*Analyzed employee safety inventory test validation data with SPSS and conducted executive report for presentation and marketing directions of the firm
*Researched and designed on-site behavior-based safety training on workers of a large tank storage company as the follow-up of the safety test
*Revised and transcribed competency models of sales managers and trade managers positions
*Designed customized 360 feedback reports for managing directors of a large French tire manufacturer From June 2013 to August 2013 (3 months) Shanghai City, ChinaGMU VPA Consultant @ Mentored by Dr. Eden King, Associate Professor in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, a team of I/O Psychology students at George Mason University (GMU) have developed an outreach program called the Volunteer Program Assessment or VPA. VPA representatives—graduate students at GMU—work with leaders of volunteer programs to help them understand the perceptions and attitudes of their volunteers about the program along with ideas to improve the program.
My responsibilities include:
*Provide consultation services for non-profit organizations on the effectiveness of their volunteer program
*Partner in the creation and implementation of a free web-based assessment investigating volunteer engagement
*Collect and analyze data, generate reports, and present results of assessment to client From January 2013 to May 2013 (5 months) Fairfax, VAEngagement Survey Analyst @ Taihe Consulting is the largest consulting firm in China specializing in background check, employment benefits consulting. I joined their recently developed Employment Engagement Survey team that was established in early 2011. During my internship there, I worked on the following tasks:
*Collected, analyzed data and wrote reports on the Employees’ Engagement Surveys
*Led market research on employee engagement and job satisfaction trends in mainland China and presented survey development recommendations to board members and analysts
*Assisted in planning and executing Taihe’s annual HR Club meeting; Introduce our employment engagement service to CHROs in Beijing From June 2012 to August 2012 (3 months) Beijing, ChinaResearch Assistant @ I was so fortunate to be in a small liberal art institute with an I/O Psychologist faculty in the Psychology Department. I had a fruitful two years of research experience with Dr. Alison O'Malley, an expert on feedback and positive psychology. Under her mentorship, I led a lab study on the effect of state mindfulness on reactions to negative feedback.
I also assisted other studies in her research lab in, recruiting participants, collecting and analyzing data
In addition, I developed and monitored a website for our research lab to display research activities and attract new students. From August 2010 to June 2012 (1 year 11 months) Indianapolis, Indiana AreaCenter for Academic Technology, Information Commons Assistant @ Established in 2009, Information Commons is a student-focused collaboration between the Center for Academic Technology and the Butler Libraries. As an Information Commons student staff, I was trained in library research methods, academic technology tools, and consultation skills. We provided support for students, faculty and staff at the Center for Academic Technology and the Irwin Library through in-class and evening training sessions and 1:1 consultations.
I was highly trained in both library and academic technology tools. One of the core values of the program is the professional development of each student in the program. Students learn how to construct instructional documents, lead training sessions, consult with clients, and apply the tools they learn throughout the workday. I also completed a portfolio that includes work samples, reflective writings, and a current résumé.
My accomplishments as an Information Commons included:
*Researched and developed written and audiovisual training materials for instructional software including PC Tablet, OneNote, iPad, and Adobe Dreamweaver
*Consulted and coached faculty and staff on instructional technology in both management and teaching, including implementing iPads learning in replace to PC Tablet to the School of Pharmacy and Physical Science, launching WordPress for after-class knowledge sharing, and setting up Access database and developing queries to track attendees of campus events
*Researched on more than 100 universities on Learning Management Systems to assist in the implementation of Moodle in replace of Blackboard.
*Led SMART Notebook training sessions on PC tablets (i.e. pen-based computing) to foreign language classes and provided technology assistance to students in those courses
