Associate Director @ From July 2011 to November 2011 AECOM I was involved in the Transport Network Restoration Program for the DTMR Metro and Darling Downs regions which is being delivered by AECOM. My role included providing technical advice in guiding project managers to develop the scope of works and treatment options. I also managed the development and production of technical specifications for all of the construction works on the program.
In November 2011 I took on the role of Project Manager for AECOM as a part of the Leighton/AECOM/Visionstream bid for the Bruce Highway Managed Motorway project. This bid was successful in taking the team forward into the first stage of a dual ECI process where I managed the design process as the project teams design manager and as the AECOM project manager.
I also took on the role as Project Manager and Design Lead on the Philip Street Roundabout Upgrade project in Gladstone which is being delivered for the Department of Transport and Main Roads. I produced the proposal for the preliminary and detailed design of this project which was accepted by the client, as we as the Business Case for funding approval. From June 2011 to Present (4 years 7 months) Brisbane, AustraliaBusiness Unit Manager (Brisbane) @ I managed the Brisbane Business Unit of pitt&sherry and reported directly to the Managing Director and was responsible for the management of the business unit including staff, arrangements with other consultants and management of all clients as well as the financial performance of the business. I was also a member of the pitt&sherry Executive Management Team. I also had a continuing role on major projects such as Airport Link where I managed the design of temporary works done by pitt&sherry as well as the Urban Superway in Adelaide where I secured and delivered work directly with the construction contractor to develop the construction staging and traffic management during construction. From May 2009 to June 2011 (2 years 2 months) Brisbane, AustraliaExecutive @ Responsible for developing a detailed design business within the Aurecon Brisbane office with the particular focus on design and construct projects with construction contractors.
Acted as leader of the Roads Group within the Aurecon Brisbane office.
Whilst with Aurecon I also led a number of bid submissions for detailed design projects as well as leading the bid submission for the QTMR Preconstruction Services Panel of suppliers for all of the Aurecon offices in Queensland.
I was a member of the Graduate Training Committee for the South East Qld offices of Aurecon. From November 2008 to May 2009 (7 months) Brisbane, AustraliaCivil Engineering Manager @ As manager of the Civil Engineering Group (11 Staff) in pitt&sherry’s Melbourne office, I was responsible for allocating staff to projects, mentoring junior staff and supervising all the staff within the group. This included securing work as well as monitoring the productivity and profitability of the group. I was also involved in the recruitment of staff in the group, including interviewing and giving recommendations on recruitment.
As the Senior Project Management of all the major civil design projects within the civil group I was responsible for liaison with clients to scope work and produce detailed proposals for services. I was also responsible for the ongoing management of design projects including management of changes in scope, management of sub-consultants, timely production of the design and quality of the products as well as the profitability of projects.
As Senior Road Design Engineer on all of the major design projects within the group, I was responsible for determining the applicable design standards for each project as well as directing and supervising the production of designs to ensure that all deliverables met the scope requirements and the design standards. From July 1998 to September 2008 (10 years 3 months) Melbourne, AustraliaEngineer @ In my early years with DIER I gained experience across a wide range of area including project management, geometric road design, pavement investigation and design, drainage design, road maintenance, property acquisition, stakeholder negotiations. Following this I chose to work in the Road Design Group where I could both manage and design road projects. From November 1991 to July 1998 (6 years 9 months)
