Major projects included: $300K playground renovation, extensive library remodel, expansion to include a middle school campus, and the successful engagement of over 350 families in school-based improvement. From August 2003 to January 2009 (5 years 6 months) Program Associate @ Developed and managed PEF programs such as Community Matters, a grassroots education advocacy and community organizing initiative, funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Helped manage and develop programming under a $5mm Annenberg grant and led public-private planning associated with the merger of the city and county school systems. Responsibilities included grant writing, program development, board relations, program budgeting, and oversight. From June 1995 to June 1998 (3 years 1 month) Corps Member @ Recruited as a TFA corps member to serve as an elementary teacher in rural Louisiana. Taught a self-contained, third grade classroom in a high poverty, low performing school in Clinton, LA. Have continued as an active alumni of TFA, which recruits high potential teacher leaders from top colleges and universities to teach in challenging, under-resourced public schools.
