Kate Botler is currently the Head of Business Recruiting & HRBP for Lyft, a fast-growing, Andreessen-backed startup pioneering the ridesharing space. Kate leads talent acquisition and management for marketing, operations, partnerships, sales, legal, finance, government relations and office/IT. In less than two years, Lyft HQ in San Francisco has grown from 100 to almost 500 employees and has expanded from 1 to 75 markets nationwide.
Before joining Lyft, Kate worked at Russell Reynolds Associates (RRA) where she worked with hot tech startups (Series A-D) to place executives across all c-level functions. As the primary relationship manager for clients, she managed the search from kickoff to successful close: sourcing, outreach, development, negotiation and succession planning. Prior to RRA, Kate was in the rotational finance program for Morningstar, Inc. where she focused on data analysis and product management for Morningstar.com.
Kate received her BA in History from Northwestern University and went on to get her JD from Fordham Law school in between Morningstar and RRA. During law school, Kate’s experiences ranged from intellectual property work for COACH, Inc., real estate law for Newmark Knight Frank, and bankruptcy law for the 1st Circuit in Maine.

Responsibilities included document review, legal research, editing court documents, and preparing for depositions.
I was an active participant in pro bono cases, including the drafting of a will, health care proxy, and power of attorney, as well as helping a client petition for political asylum and another client finalize an uncontested divorce.
