Search Crawler team, responsible for building core components of the Yahoo! search engine’s content system. From September 2007 to June 2011 (3 years 10 months) Researcher @ My PhD research was focused on answering the important questions of what kind of programming models and system software are well-suited for sensor networks , and under what circumstances different computation models have the most beneficial effects. This resulted in the VM* framework — a component-based virtual machine for sensor networks. VM* was motivated by the fact that future sensor network deployments will be heterogeneous, with constituent hardware tailored to perform specific tasks. It deals with resource constraints through software synthesis and scaling techniques. One of its unique features is that it supports efficient application-system software co-evolution through a technique called incremental linking. My research also studied the more general problem of how to implement large system software on resource-constrained embedded systems. Some of this research contributed to the founding of a start-up sensor network company — SynapSense, based in Folsom, California.
