Working with great people building a platform that brings people and communities together around games. San Francisco Bay AreaSr SW Dev Manager - Internet Technologies @ Apple In this position, I created and managed a team responsible for both real-time and general data communications between Apple products over the Internet. Created a new networking foundation for FaceTime that resulted in a 2x improvement in setup time. Extended the new architecture to become the basis for future communication including cloud messaging for the Apple Watch, and HomeKit IP camera streaming. Created a new Screen Sharing feature for AppleCare that provided a ten point improvement in customer satisfaction. From November 2014 to April 2018 (3 years 6 months) Cupertino, CASr SW Dev Manager - Wireless Software Engineering @ Apple Joined a Tiger team to converge the feature set for the first customer release of HomeKit. Worked on implementation of HomeKit API, protocol, and specification, and designed the initial protocol for HomeKit IP camera streaming. From October 2013 to November 2014 (1 year 2 months) Cupertino, CASW Development Manager - Interactive Media Group @ Apple Officially took over direct management of the audio/video tech team, due to proven abilities to manage the team and collaborate with cross-functional groups to successfully release major features on schedule. We continued expanding the video conferencing feature set to include video and file sharing, screen sharing, and video backdrops. From October 2005 to October 2007 (2 years 1 month) Cupertino, CASr Eng Project Manager - QuickTime @ Apple The success of the iChat AV release led to expansion of its feature set. Designed and implemented a new media engine to support multiway video/audio, and higher video resolution using H.264. Most of my time was spent on project management, feature planning and design, managing cross-functional dependencies and building relationships with cross-functional teams. From April 2004 to October 2005 (1 year 7 months) Cupertino, CAEngineering Project Manager - QuickTime @ Apple Joined Apple as part of a secret team to implement video conferencing on Mac OS X. Performed roles as engineering project manager and software developer. We designed and implemented the media and networking engine from scratch. The initial product, iChat AV, was based on SIP/RTP/SRTP/UDP and implemented in C, and Objective-C. This new feature was revealed at WWDC with a video chat between Steve Jobs and Al Gore. From January 2002 to April 2004 (2 years 4 months) Cupertino, CASoftware Manager and Project Manager @ Dialpad Communications (pre-Yahoo acquisition) Known for free phone calls over the Internet, I joined Dialpad to manage and grow the client development team working on Java and Win32 VoIP clients. I instituted better coding practices including defect tracking, source code control, and code reviews. Also hired the initial QA team to develop and enforce test plans, and approval processes. From July 2000 to January 2002 (1 year 7 months) Santa Clara, CASr SW Dev Manager - Interactive Media Group @ Apple Created FaceTime as a result of rapid prototyping after the surprise introduction of the iPhone. FaceTime was an evolution of iChat AV that focused on mobility, and improved video and audio quality at reduced bit rates. Created and grew a real-time communications team to tackle the challenges of feature development across multiple platforms and parallel project releases. This organization included specialized sub-teams for audio integration, video integration, networking, data analytics, and automation. From October 2007 to October 2013 (6 years 1 month) Cupertino, CAProgrammer @ Ask Jeeves Ask Jeeves pioneered a natural language search engine.
